:D Hey guys! I did mailing this morning then took the day off... ready for a big day tomorrow finishing up some fixed blades and maybe scribing out some 3V tantos as my steel just came in! :D Belts are in too, I'm geared up for action!

Lots more snow and then some rain, it's a mess here!

grind some knives, mail some knives... heat treat some knives!

The flipper design is coming along nicely!

The two circles represent the only hardware... a large high thread count (for range of adjustment) custom pivot and single 6-32 screw with retainer. Two screws and that is it! Sometimes folders can be tricky to assemble, this one will be a piece of cake!

I want to see that peened pivot once you get going on the penny folder, I bet some .005" washers would work nicely


I'll do a thread on the flipper once it is closer...

By the way, the clip will probably nest in a slot and can flip over for left hand carry. I might even double grind some! :eek:
 
For a penny folder I'm thinking less is more. I may try either relieving the slot except for the pivot area (built in washers effectively) or use a thin shim when peening, something like .003 or .005 to leave just enough room for it to move after I pull it out. Like I do slip joints.

It's my Friday so tomorrow I will get going on this! Might need more fuel for the forge though, unless Kevin has anything he needs to HT as well and I can use his oven. I may go old school and just torch it, then use the old Sheffield method of drawing temper on small blades.

Our garage wing collapsed today under the weight of the snow. Dang! Lots 'o smashed things under there.
More snow tonight.
Yes, I did shovel the house roof.
