Dude having fun...

Morning fellas! Hmm, I like both handles. For me it depends on overall package of the knife. Slim, light weight, I like bottom profile. Little bit more stout, heavier build, I like top.

Make it great fellas!

I like the top better, looks more proportional to blade.
I also agree with Lycosa statement

Much appreciated! That pretty much sums up my opinion too...

Thanks very much for the feedback guys!

Xander that kit looks cool... when i took a class on the trap set "Funky Drummer" by the JB's (or is it James Brown...) was our final...even half speed got an "A'! That riff is so good there is a movie about it...

John Bonham is my favorite drummer ever... learning 'When the Levee Breaks" was a game changer when it came to counting out beats...

I finally got in my souped up blaster gun and foot pedal so my blast cab is back in effect! Tomorrow I will hook it up. Pedal control!!! the hand trigger will kick your butt and I am really excited to upgrade as well as fix my toasted blast gun! Respect to Barrel Blaster as they really rock and I'm just glad after 8 days in the mail via 2 day it is finally here!

Daniel, that kit was painted by the late Nzante Spee for my father in law. He used to live next door to the wife (when we were in high school) while he was in the states. He spent a lot of time back in Cameroon though. He was a really cool guy! Loved to drink wine, lol! Spent many summer nights just hanging out on the porch and bs'ing with him. You can check out speeart.com to see some of his work. He was an artist through and through. I miss that guy. His accent was somewhat comical when he was drinking, almost like a movie character or something.

Myself, I have always been a Buddy Rich fan. His ability to switch freely from a lazy jazz meter to a straight up background hit, back and forth in the same song was just amazing to me. Not many I have found after that that could just wander through styles so easily as him.

Which handle shape do you guys like more? The top one has the RF2 handle (at about 93% of the original size) and the bottom is close to the friction folder. On the friction folder inspired handle I'm going to make the lines near the front more aggressive and less rounded.

I like the top one better. It has a nice smooth flow. I think the transition on the bottom one might wear on your finger with extended use.

Very cool story, I'm checking out the site now. I thought the set would have been a limited edition, not hand painted... wow!

Buddy Rich is just awesome, we watched his playing as a part of requirements when I took drum lessons in college. That semester was a lot of fun, I also took "rock band" as a class... was full time school and managed a kitchen 50 hours plus a week too. I think Buddy Rich was Bonham's favorite drummer, he is kind of the Godfather of drums!

Thanks! ...Great feedback for me to work with as I refine the designs.

Thanks again guys for the folder feedback, it is really important to me.

By the way, if I go with thicker scales they will be contoured on the outer or milled inside for weight reduction. The blade will be a slicer, I'm thinking .140" thick range.

Hi Kevin! :D

Hi Kevin!
Hi Daniel!
Hi DFerz! 'Appy Friday.

I'm am diggin' the bottom design. I think the thinner handle will offer a more versatile and comfortable grip...at least for me.

Hey Kevin! :D

Thanks, sounds good! Much appreciated...

If you guys have handled my friction folder design the bottom handle is very close... about 110% the size of the friction folder handle but almost the same lines.

The handle design is vaguely inspired by a Shiva Ki knife in David Boye's "Step By Step Knifemaking." It's the first book I got on making knives and still a big influence along with the Boye drop point hunter.

Morning y'all!

It's Saturday morning which means I go back to work today. Oh joy.

Make it a great day guys!

I hope it goes well Xander!

Improved top arch and flipper tab! This is closer to what is in my head... takes a long time to get CAD right.

Looking good Daniel, have you ever tried Google sketch up or 123d?

I'm out here in Manteca Xander, i forget how fast people drive after the Altamont pass! Although I did like zooming up in fourth gear, enjoy Saturday work haha

Haha, yeah, I205 through Tracy is a crazy fast section, no on or off ramps for a couple miles at a time and average cruising speed in the slow lane is close to 80! I know 120 to Manteca isn't as bad, but it's still pretty fast.

You stopping in at Bass pro while you're there? Kinda cool just to walk around there.

Lunch time! Lemon pepper chicken, brussel sprouts, green beans. Oh and a Snicker bar for after!

Make it great fellas!

Hi Gang.
Daniel- If I ripped a piece of vintage GE Micarta, would I finish it with a buffer and or sandpaper, a sealer or what?
Thanks.

Thanks MrDrewBear! I hear those programs are good but my drawing time now is mostly related to technical stuff now... with the folder is you make one small change everything moves... then moves back! It did take me forever to learn though...

Hey Xander!

Rolf - with micarta you really just have to run it through the grits to get it looking finished but a ripped cut still looks fine. I used to cut stones and it is the same thing, the color and nuances pop out more at higher grits. If you are trying to rip in a saw cut where you can't get to it (a la Opinel) I'd just leave it after a cleaning and spray down with WD40. The GE material looks good no matter what.

We have gotten over the 4' of snow predicted this week and over 5-6' at some locations! I've been moving snow like crazy in effort to keep my place up! The shop had so much snow around it that i could not open the door and wound up shoveling around it. It really has not been too bad though at least the snow is coming in evenly.

Blaster pedal... installed! It really rocks too.

You guys have a good one!
