Welcome ni1s!
Daniel- You need a magic forge hammer from Nick Rossi.
Hi bit-chez! 'Appy Friday!

Hi Rolf!

The flea market here has all sorts of cool old gear, I picked up a turn of the century smithing hammer that looks good. But a Rossi would be awesome! I will need a few hammers.

Cool! And, I'm going to send you a pair of forging tongs. My friend, Roger, made them.

If you need cheap hammers, look for drilling hammers at home depot or harbor freight. Drilling hammers are a more compact head for the same weight, don't forget to round the corners and put a good finish on it as well as take the clear varnish off the face.

I want a ball Pein spike hawk from the DFK forge!

Morning fellas! Just finished a huge breakfast of sausage patties, hashbrown, eggs, biscuit and gravy. I'm ready for a nap!

Ugh, did I ever mention how much I hate going to the movies? Make it a theater full of kids and it's even worse... :-/

Movies - our local theater is pretty weak so I haven't gone in about 5 years... will soon though with Jade! I miss the theaters in the islands, lol they are nuts!

Epic day here... I might fall out on the couch in a second. 10 knives ready to sharpen tomorrow after I do mail out.

I'm excited about this forge build! And the mill! One month wait on the mill but it is a good one.

What's going on this evening guys? We're watching the kiddos and I'm researching forge builds for a bit...

It's been 5 yrs Daniel?? You're missing out a lot good movies. Let me send you some DVDs! :D

Make sure you post some pix when the mill came in!

My friends coming down from Fresno CA we will meetup tonight and.....;) You know..:D

The 3 of of us got invited to dinner with the neighbor.

Daniel, the forge is the easy part, all the work is in the torch head. Fireplace cement is a good cheap alternative to satanite. I like Rutland brand. Good up to something like 2200°F.

Today I killed a six pack. Just to watch it die.

Hi DFerz.
Daniel- I think you will love the forge and forging. Just dunt wear that arm out. That's what power-hammers are for.

:D We have a Roku but with no TV signal I don't know what is going on currently, lol. I think the screens at the local theater are about 10 x10 also. We want to take the kids though, it would be cool.

I'll post pics on the mill for sure! I'm about to remodel the shop a bit in order to set it up and also for my disc grinder build. I have heard that a month wait is standard but they can sometimes come in sooner so I'm getting it done this week. I'm really excited, it is a nice mill.

Very nice! :D I have some of that cement and have used it for a hamon on W2... also fixed my stovepipe with it!

I have some Satanite coming in, sounds kinds scary! The epitome of refractory. :D (if you get that joke you have also watched way too much Trailer Park Boys)

I think so too! lol a power hammer is next! I have been on the look out for one for a while.

I don't even have a decent anvil yet but I'm looking! I want to make a post style one if I can find some at the scrapyard.... been looking online too. I'm taking my time as my knifemaking budget is going to folders... they are my main focus for sure.

I want to make some forged W2 Pocket Fighters! I just scored 35 pounds of Don Hanson's W2 in 3/4" round bars o hammer out by hand. I can't believe some popped up for sale. One of the guys is sending me a burner for testing and another has offered to build me the forge body... I think this is meant to happen! That and the people here are the best!

So, I got the job!!!

I haven't turned in my notice yet to my current boss, so please no Facebook posts.

I'm excited, more money, better hours (they're open only til' 6 and closed Sundays) better organization. I'm exited but nervous and really hoping this works out the best for me and the family! Not to say I'm not going to miss my current employees, but this is a good opportunity for me!

Hot damn! Congratulations. Change can be rough, but it sounds like this ticks all the right boxes. I don't think we're fb friends yet, but I'll try to contain myself to posts here anyway. :)

Thanx dude!

It does have all the right elements to be a better situation. It was no easy task to explain in the interview my displeasure with my current situation without sounding like I'm bad mouthing my current job. But I was told that the interview went really well. The fact that the manager called me from his cell on his day off to offer me the position proves to me that I am still valuable in the marketplace and don't have to feel like I'm being driven into the ground.

Now for the longest two weeks to begin... sad part is that I know I'm going to be watched like a hawk on a 3 legged mouse. Not that they have any reason to, but it's been shown to me in the past that that's how they operate on someone's exit.

It will be a most excellent thing, I'm sure of it! :D

Congrats Xander. You've paid your dues, now it's time to start reaping the rewards.
