This is going to help a lot in the folder department with accuracy and more. I spend most of my time at the mill and it was my weakest link as the cheapest tool that I use a lot... not anymore though! This new one s going to ROCK!!! I should be a able to hit extremely tight tolerances like .0005" on a counterbore depth.

New shop toys are always fun, but a new mill is extra exciting!!!

I could easily design a working rocket, guided missile is a little tougher to figure out though. The Hydra is technically a rocket but they call it a missile. It's been around forever, it's what the shoot out of the big drum launchers on the sides of helicopters and other low speed fixed wing aircraft. Been in service since Vietnam.

I better get back to work!

D, I forgot to answer your question about the computer being custom. Yes, my buddy built it from the motherboard up. It doesn't seem like it is that hard. He said you just need to make sure that the parts are compatible. Congat's on the new mill! You must be checking the tracking every couple hours... haha.

Any particular designs or size you like?! Been a while since I've built one but I've got a good stockpile of composites. Do you know if an FAA waiver is required where you are? I needed one here for anything over 5000 feet altitude. Only been hastled about it a couple times about 10 years ago though. Btw, I'm serious, I can build these things...:D

Thanks Rolf! I'll contact Po for sure! I'm feeling really good about the folders and hopefully will be getting them out faster soon. I'll be able to pull off some more fun stuff with this mill too. I need to talk more about that tanto by the way, it has been crazy busy here but I am really excited about the project.

FBC... thanks dude!!!! The package has arrived and I just can't say enough! Your knives are looking killer, my favorite is the Hunter with Black Linen Micarta, it would be perfect for the minimalist or concealed carry... really cool design! It needs to be carried, the weight to size ratio is something else. :cool: That is interesting on the computer build, I have come close to building one myself.


IMWILSON, yes I can't wait! The DRO is going to help a ton. I'm excited to have something more accurate too... I tried a lot of ways of tramming my mini mill and eventually thought I might have been incompetent on that part. I got an easy tram and sure enough my table is twisted way off on one side... works fine in the middle but this is going to make my day go a lot smoother I think. I'm also going to be able to use all of the cool gear you sent me like the face mill! Thanks again!

I'm now looking at a surface grinder, I found an old Browne and Sharpe somewhat nearby that might be decent.


I was considering moving to a larger shop in town and hiring some help. No slab for heavy equipment and no running water in the shop. I recently decided I do not want to pursue that this year and will focus on making it happen on the folders. This is why I got the mill... it is going to be ideal for me but does not need a slab like a Bridgeport or the likes. The surface grinder will go on a pad I will pour myself in the old carport shop... I hope!

Wasn't really looking, but the wife found a listing for a good job and more money, an opportunity I shouldn't pass up. At least if I don't get it, I still have a decent job. It's easier to get a job when you got a job. The hiring manager told me that they are looking for someone very specific and are being selective, the fact that I got a call just two days after applying sounds good to me! I hope it turns into something. I could use some more money!

Kinda scary thinking about changing jobs now, but if it's for the better, then I gotta try it!
