Nice work X! The name came out super clean... awesome!

I made a few like that from osage (bodark) forks back home as a kid, I wish i had some branches of that stuff drying! A SAK magnifying glass would burn some cool patterns in the wood...


The W1 Aikuchi I forged last night came out cool, I just pulled it out of the (cold) forge and it looks nice! It's long and sleek at about 11" long and only 5/8" tall. It still amazes me that it came from about 6" of round bar!

When I can I'm getting some Hitachi White Steel with laminated Iron sides for forging... it's going to be cool! It's nearly impossible to get, I have to import it...
 
Hi guys. Just got back from a Bonsai club meeting. We hosted an event at a local nursery here in San Antonio, TX to let visitors coming through the nursery, see some of our different types of Bonsai trees and answer questions. We had a good turn out....now headed home for nap time...lol. Have a great afternoon everyone!

Hey Donnie- Do you have a pair of Japanese Bonsai shears? Very nice.
 
Good morning everyone! Lycosa, I do have a tool set I was able to get from Joshua Roth. It is the intermediate kit and there are two types of shears that come with the kit. My father in law has been into Bonsai for twenty years and he got me interested in Bonsai. I'm a member / Raffle guy for the San Antonio Bonsai Society and this is my 2nd year. I have about 17 trees myself and a few of them are pretty old but beautiful. I'll be de-leafing my narrow leaf ficus today which will take all afternoon.lol

Mornin' y'all! I think I finally got my PC fixed!!! I was ready to shoot it......really! I did learn a few things along the way though.
Daniel that iron clad Hitatchi White sounds killer! Maybe you could post a pic of it when you get it. I would like to see what it looks like in it's pre DFK stage.

Donnie, Bonsai trees are cool. I tried to grow one once....it did not end well...tiny fire wood.

Bonsai, wow! That's interesting... I had several (Spruce?) trees for a while. I collected them from boulders and other areas where they were severely stunted. I'm not sure if they were real Bonsai but learned a bit from a book I had... written in Japanese so pics only! I made the trays for them to grow in and everything. I may have to ask some questions later!

I hope the Ficus went well, that sounds fun!


X I hope it was a good flea market! I finally made it to the one here yesterday and it was a blast. There was a Puukko that I found really interesting.

Big week ahead! Mega RF2 time! I also should have at least two new fixed blades completed in a new design. I say new because I have never finished one but the design is from one of the first knives I ever profiled! The original was a file knife... I think you guys will like the design! The blade shape is close to a Petty but the handle is more tanto... (yeah yeah we need pics!)

By the way....Daniel I just received the package you sent me! I absolutely love this friction folder. This is my first friction style folder and this thing is great. It will be very helpful with fine detail work and any other task I can throw at it. I just wanted to say....THANK YOU! I'll try to get a few pics added later (I'm still technically challenged with uploading pics) lol.:D

Donnie - nice! I've kept a few bonsai over the years, though my luck is variable. I have a 10 year old ficus retusa here at my office currently - that is doing pretty well.

Daniel - yes San Mai pics are required.

Evening guys.

Not much going on, just checking in. Just read that Colt is filing ch.11 bankruptcy. Knew it was coming, it will be interesting to see how things go.

I realized I have about 8 knives I need to finish sitting on my bench. I should get going on them.

I heard that too, I hate to see that but hopefully they can get back on track.

I'm going to need a couple cups of coffee today I have been pulling late nights trying to get a knife done for a high school friend that his wife ordered for him. We have our 15 year class reunion on Saturday and I'm going to deliver it to him then...he don't know he is getting it so I'm looking forward to suprising him.

Thanks Justin! I lucked out on that one... maybe a slab of CPM154 for flippers! I must say I am beyond excited about it all. The Bubble Jig sounds awesome.

Hi Xander!

I hope Colt gets back on track, I'll have to switch to some other brand of 40 if they don't. Billy Dee got me going on them. Maybe Old English next...

Ahhh... so guys with Glocks are getting "free" 40's and that is causing the Colt 45 thing.

Yesterday was a huge day with 5 knives ground... 4 going out later today. Those are the last of the Ultralight Backpackers for just a little bit. Let me know if you are interested in one!

lol I finally got that crazy massive friction folder blade ground. It is real!!!! :eek: Pics later...
