I do hope Colt can stick it out... I think American based manufacturing is going to come back, especially for high end items. People are finally getting tired of cheap junk!
 
hmm stumbled on a new artist on NPR, Leon Bridges on the first listen. Got that soulful sound and very easy listening i think. I will wait for the next blue ultralights backpackers or for the blue kwaiken since rolf is designated the red diety :)

When Colt lost the military contract as the sole supplier for the M4 a few years ago they also added accounting issues on top of it. Revised annual reports, missed deadlines for annual reports, etc. They were trying to outrun their creditors and finally was no longer able to. Ch11 is discouraging, something like less than 10% are successful restructuring. Sciens Corp will be taking ownership of Colt assests, but they will operate as normal and wages will be unaffected for most workers.

On my lunch break, spaghetti and sour dough bread. Thumbing through the Harbor Freight flier that just showed up in the mail.

Check out Empire Outfitter for the Backpackers, they may have a few and are getting more in the next couple of days.

I really don't know enough to comment... the bigger you are the harder you have to try to stay at the top though.

That's interesting, I wondered where their current sales area was.

Harbour Freight! I'm still exited that we finally got one in my region... I was checking out their site today.



Sorry for the lack of pics... between Sat, Sunday Monday and today I already have close to 50 hours in the shop! Big things are happening and I'm dong my best to stay with the program! :D

I ordered an inexpensive flux core Mig welder today! I learned to weld in high school and have wanted a welder since. I'm finally going to get the forge finished and will be using it so weld billet ends together for forge welding dammy and san mai.

Anybody a Massdrop fan? Be sure to check the site out if you can, it rocks. And yes... stay tuned for more. :D
 
Good morning Daniel, Lycosa and everyone else. Well, day started with an escalated phone call from the USPS about a card w/gift card that was sent priority on June 8 two day priority but shows no tracking after it was accepted. Good ole USPS! The PO here in San Antonio, Tx has "issues" and people sending packages are having to deal with stess of others not doing their jobs. Anyway, after blood pressure was pumped up this morning by a woman in VA....now my case has gone to the head of Consumer Affairs. I'll be stopping by our PO here and expressing my "feelings" shortly. If I'm not on here for a few days....I may need help with posting bond. Lol:D

good morning on this mighty fine hump day...my warriors are the champs following since i was 9 and hopefully i can see on more championship in my lifetime. Have a good one everyone :D
 
Ugh, hate going to the DMV. Although it does make for interesting people watching!

Just about done with my lunch break, had to put another coat of resin on a demo project for work that's due tomorrow, I'm a little behind:eek:

I'll get it done, I've got procrastination down to an exact art!

I can't help but to play DMV in my head... especially that first few seconds.. (Primus sucks!) I love Primus...

Daniel, how's knife making going? busy? :D Love to see some knives soon to be up for sale :)

I'm about to possibly sell a DFK.. it would be rare.. BLK has one, that is the only one I've sold.. All bigguns staying with me though! :)

No knives made today but I did mail a bunch out and got to work more on a new workbench this afternoon... I built the bench frame to set the concrete table top I poured on. I also acid stained the concrete just to learn and make it look cool. I now have a mahogany brown and turquoise blue table... it looks like a big slab of rock from a few feet away. I'll get some pics!


Sloth... yo! :D I should have a couple of fixed blades up this week, I hope to glue the scales up tomorrow. They are all new designs. I also still have a frickie with Chevrons to finish and am starting up the new Kwaikens soon!

17 knives and one bracelet have gone out over the last few days... I need to upload some pics! I have barely had a chance to sleep but am getting lots done.


Xander we want to know more about the project! Did it go well?



Tomorrow morning - grind front of scales for 3 knives and glue them up... Afternoon - Mega RF2 Blade!!!

Friday - I really hope to do some heat treating if possible... 3 fixed blades in CPM3V (shown last week), 3 D2 RF2 Blades, and maybe my two in W1 and W2 if I can.
