What's up gang!

Project, it's done enough to serve it's purpose for my demonstration, a minature long board surf board! I have to give a short presentation on polyester resins that our company sells, one of which is our Surf Board resin. Crystal clear, hard drying, air-inhibited, excellent wet-out of cloth too. So, I sliced up a balsa block, shaped it, did one layer of S-2 glass on one side and a layer of Deck Cloth on the other. Finished with a surface coat of just resin with Suface Curing Agent added to counteract the air-inhibited properties (doesn't fully cure in the presence of air, means no sanding between coats/laminations). Sanded and buffed after just to clean up the finish a bit but it was damn nice as is except for a few runs and drips.

Still needs some touch up around the edges, need to add a fin and some vintage decals to make it look right. But for demonstration purposes, it's done.

Now just to refine my script...

Hang 10 dooods!

Good morning everyone! Well, I made it out of the Post Office without an escort. My case is now escalated to the Consumer Affairs Depatrment. So, who knows. Anyway, Thank you Daniel for the bail offer. Lol I'll keep that in the back of my mind, just in case.:D
Fast14riot...that long mini surfboard really looks cool. I hope it serves you well during your demonstration.
Daniel, I hope you get plenty of work done today and look forward to seeing pics.

Well, hope everyone has a great day,
Donnie

That's cool Xander! Your job sounds awesome too!

My old roommate back in the USVI had a couple hand shaped boards, they were really cool. We did some nose repair work and stuff like that... got me interested in fiberglass work. I have a scale model of an old school racing boat hull design I came up with somewhere. We'd make cardboard sections of bulkheads just like the drawing then lay the cardboard planks on and glass up! lol It is fun stuff! One of these days I want to make a drift boat, plywood/glass (cold molding) boat building really interests me.

By the way anyone ever go skurfing? It is too much fun, I used to go every day. The boards are an excellent first fiberglass/plywood project.

Big day here today, you guys have a good one!!!

Good morning! Best of luck with all, I hope they at least find that package!

Have a good one!

We call it skim boarding here, lots of fun! Thanks for the props bro, I had a helluva time working with this super fast cure resin in the low humidity and high heat of summer, but I think it came out ok for now.

Anyways, still finalizing my presentation and I better get back to it.

Cheers!

Yeah.. skim boarding.. silly mountain man! In AZ we'd wait til they irrigated the school yards, had berms all over the school property so you'd still have a dry field or two, while the others were about 4in deep in scum water :D

Then at the beach some times in FLA along the surf before I'd venture out in the deep O_O

Morning! Pancakes... peace!

It looks awesome, X!
Hi Daniel, big day ahead rock on brotha!!! :D
Wish y'all have a good one!

It looks good and best of luck with the presentation!

Yep skim boarding!!! That's what I meant, skurfing is like wakebording but with a surfboard... kind of hard on the board so you want to use a beater.

Nice! That sounds awesome on the lawns!!! I still want to set up some sort of system for skim boarding on land... maybe a lot of plastic and a pump. lol

Pancakes!!!

Hey Ben, thanks dude!!! :D Have a good one!

Hey duuuuuuudes. That mini surfboard looks pretty cool, X. Now make a full size board! haha
Daniel, if you ever want to make a pirate ship, let me know and I will come help. :emot-yarr:
I found some copper so I beat it with a hammer until I got this. I think a copper handled Higo is in the future.

Hi Ben!
Thanks, Daniel!
You kwkn folder is one of the nicest designs EVER.
Nice night, DFerz.

Mornin' y'all. Rolf, I tried to bend ti like that and it just cracked. I am sure it can be done, I just don't know how to do it yet.
Ben, white steel would be sweeeeeeeeet!
This is a back burner project for sure. In fact I don't know if I have told you guys that I am back to being a hobby maker. Being a full time maker is a tough gig, big respect to Daniel and the others that can pull it off. I will go back to it someday, I just need to take a step back and reassess what I need to do first.

Kevin that is looking good! With the Ti you have to bend it red hot and yes it is tricky to bend... probably why we don't really see any Ti higos. I think the copper is killer!

The tough thing about being a full time maker is that it is really 2 full time jobs. Never add up your hours and figure out your hourly pay!!! :D

BTW that white steel is hard to get, I couldn't get an order through. I need to make a phone call to Germany!

With the correct heat treat I know my 52100 will make anyone that likes White steel very happy. I really don't want to compare the two but they will both get about as sharp as it gets... literally like a laser.

I'm really hoping to get to RF2 blades today! :D

You guys have a good one!

Good morning everyone. Pretty rainy here..so laid back Friday!:D Hope everyone has a great day and even better weekend!
Also, I just posted pics of the friction folder Daniel did for me. This is my first friction folder and I absolutely love it. Just need a sheath now. Lol. Anyway, if anyone would like to see pics, they are posted on my Instagram page. My info is bestjr.donald. Hope you like the pics!

Soooo, this place is pretty vacant today. I could totally let one rip and nobody would even be here to applaud!

I've had a good day. Busy, but good. Great grandma's stuff went up for yard sale today. We went over and picked through, I snagged some really cool handmade earthenware bowls and one vessel. Lots of little kitchen nick-knacks too.

Ordered new safety toe shoes for work, got some drill bits for putting holes in rifles barrels, got a new cordless drill for Dad's day, a new electric razor, beer, and a day of no bitching! Also ordered some bullets for my pops for his gift. He didn't want to spend the $0.70 a piece for them.

Hope y'all made it beyond great!
