Slip floats (slip bobbers) slid up and down your line, you use them generally for fishing deeper than 4' as with a fixed float you have to have all that line hanging off the end or your rod when you cast. Slip floats stop against a small bead threaded onto you line above the float which then stops again a small knot of a separate line tied onto your fishing line. The stopper knot can slide up and down or just be reeled up and over in the spool. A split shot on the line under the bobber stops it from sliding all the way down to your hook.

It's rather simple and great for catching this big ol' bull bluegill that prowl the depths during the summer. Also good for catfish too. Simple, inexpensive and secure. Fixed floats are like the old red and white plastic ball floats, they are fixed position on your line.

Morning fellas!
So I took this picture the other day, sorry about the poor quality but the moon was much more clear and brighter under my telescope.

Killing each other is the easy way out.. I'm too hardcore for that :D

5yrs for us.. 11 yrs together.. Kids make it easier to stay together because we have something to beat on instead of each other :D

My oldest helped me with yard work after we practiced his karate for his yellow belt test tomorrow :) He is super excited to possibly leave behind the white belt :) Just wish I wasn't his punching bag... (my balls that is.. damn kid sized kicks can hurt when placed properly...)

Twas hot.. felt way hotter than the temperature supposedly was.. must have been higher than normal humidity. Looking at 95ish this weekend.. doh!

Rolf, Spyderco knives are for newbies :D

Congratz, sloth9mm!
Do we love Summer or what?
Oh, and I'll tell Sal what you said about Spyderco. Newbies? Is this really true?
:D

I'm working on some special Ti Spyderco blades today in fact! :D You guys all need to snag a SquareHead Dog Tag Knife.

I'm so beat up from downhill riding it has been hard moving... lol! I thought I was sore from the workout and realized, nope, just really bruised and beat up! :D

Thanks for explaining the floats Xander, I have used those and wondered why they kept slipping! I do enjoy the Bluegill fishing and used to catch a ton back home.

Ben that pic is excellent!

Congrats Sloth! 12 years here and it seems like we were married yesterday. Karate! I still have my broken board from my yellow belt test, I was 5 years old and the guys were surprised I broke it... I've been good at breaking things ever since!

Summer is flying by here and I'm dong my best to get a load of hours working in the shop. I have several fixed blades coming up that have a lot of time in them along with the folders. I'm hoping to heat treat a load of blades by Friday too.

Next week will be huge, I'm hoping to finish up some RF2's (MEGA RF2!) and start up the Kwaikens! I'll be sending the CPM10V blades off for heat treat and starting a large run of Ti Blades for... something I will announce once it is closer.

epson salt bath... and get your wife to give you a massage :D

That sounds like a good idea! I feel like I got ran over... I can only turn my head to the left for the most part. :D lol I'm an idiot!

There is so much pollen here I couldn't really get pics yesterday evening! Every time a breeze picked up the knife would get covered in yellow stuff.

What sloth said.
Daniel... you get'n old? :D And, ENJOY Summer! The knives, and us, can wait.

Good morning fellas!

I have a feeling today's gonna be a HOT day!

Have a good one guys!

Morning guys!

It's gonna be a scorcher today, forecast says 104°! Just waiting until the really hot weather gets here, that's when I pack the family up and head to the mall, I use their AC rather than run my utility bill sky high.

Gonna be a busy day today at work, having two rookie cutters at work means that orders are slow to come, I'm going to jump in and get caught up. Then I have to load up 100 or so rounds of 6.8 for a silhouette match this Sunday. I'm really looking forward to it, it's going to be just me and my dad, my brother is planning his move to AZ and can't go.

Y'all make it a great day!

or go to the movies.. or camp out at a bookstore :D

Question about bandsaws. I want a bandsaw for cutting micarta scales.. but not for shaping specifically, but for ripping a thick piece into too thin pieces. So I'd like them to be cut straight and flat'ish. I have several slabs of micarta but all of them are near a 1/2in thick and I'd love to make two nice equal pieces..

Any bandsaws I should avoid? Do I need a certain type of blade? Lots of teeth? Speed important or not for this?

Would something like this do the job or just give me mangled pieces of garbage?

Thanks guys!

Most any bandsaw would work, you would need a rip blade though, probably 3/8" or 1/2" wide. Also, gonna need a rip fence too.

The bookstore is in the mall here, that's usually where we go. :-)
