A couple of non-counterfeit related questions:

Is it true that Sanranmu plans to eventually retire its lineup of locking blades?

Is it true that Enlan has ceased production of knives?

I am all ears! What answers do you have to these long pondered questions?

the answer is soooo complicated. i am trying to make it clear .

Q:Where does damn things come from?

A:there is a city , called YangJang in Guangdong Province . and the YangJiang city is the center of cutery bussiness in China ,like Seki in japan. fake knives mostly come from here .

if you wanna ask me why people in yangjiang are wild about making and selling fake ones , plz let me know.:D

both Q above are out of my reach , but i want to say some thing:

I am familiar with the boss of Sanranmu Mr.Liang , i do not think Sanranmu will retire its lineup of locking blades.
From phone talk with Mr.Liang one month ago, i got that he want to make muti-carbord tools more in future .

I have bought few Enlan knives , I give those things to my friends, cuz I simply do not like those ones. and do not care about the brand , man.
And i do not think Enlan will quit making production knives .

I am aware that Sanrenmu is starting to focus on multifunction knives now. My concern is whether this will lead to them starting to discontinue or scale back their current lineup of locking and non-locking knives since there was a supposed screenshot of a Sanrenmu website from late 2014 stating that they planned to start discontinuing locking knives and focus more on non-locking and multifunction knives:

Dear Dingy,
If the majority of people are right handed why is the hammer loop on the left side of carpenter pants?

your thoughts are reasonable , man.

Dingy, how about giving us your impression of your knife industry in China, the why's and the ins and outs. I would love to read it, no matter how long it is.

Are there alot if knife enthousiadts in China ?
Do people carry pocket folders in China ?
Do the Chinese buy mostly chinese made knives or other like US made knives ?

As you are an insider, I would like to ask you if there are any traditional chinese knife makers. I am aware that China has a rich tradition of knife and sword making. How is it as of today ? Thanks for your answer.

Well, this appears to be in the wrong section. This is about knife companies and counterfeits. If you are itching to tell us about the questions you asked yourself, why not go ahead?

I'll try to guess the correct answers before they are posted:

why there are so many fake knives in China?
Because someone profits from it, and it's not illegal there.

who made those things?
Various workers, many in small workshops in their own home.

Where does damn things come from?
Factories produce the parts. Sometimes the same factory that makes the "genuine" article. See above regarding assembly.

how about the laws which fails to punish those fake knife Manufacturers?
US laws of trademarking, etc. do not apply within China's borders, though there are trade agreements that prevent those products from being sold here.

Close?

hi dingy - do you know if Reate and Kizer also have their workshops in yangjiang city? what are their Chinese names?

Same question here. I'd love to know about traditional Chinese makers and what the pieces look like. I've seen those so-called "fish knives" with the iron spike on the handle, but other than that haven't ever actually seen a traditional Chinese work/utility knife and know that they must exist.
