Fake Knife Philosophy In China

As I am a kind of hooked up on Hong Kong movies currently, I spot a lot of very "local" looking knives. Especially kitchen knives, but quite different from the japanese kitchen knives which are better known and increasingly popular...

And while we're at it, I'd like to tell the OP to just skip the "fake" in the title of his current (and future) post(s), if he might agree with me. Due to the deeds of the current chinese cutlery, most people tend to equate anyway this whole branch of industry with "fake/clones" production and I can't say they are that wrong. I am eager to see some of the truly homemade production of a land with an incredible age old culture...

Here's an easy one for you, dingy. Who or what is Kevin John? Based on the quality of the knives I've seen that bear his name, it's clear to me that they're not being produced out of somebody's garage.

Which notable domestic Chinese brands should we be taking a closer look at?
Or are Chinese brands also not spared being ripped off and faked to the bone as well?
Which brands are actually affliated under the same umbrella corporation, if at all?
Would one be able to completely trust the lables conerning the type of materials put in use on these domestic chinese brands?
Is there such a thing as warranties for these domestic labels?
And if so, what is the customer service standards usually like?
At what level of interest do chinese knifenuts take when it comes to domestically made chinese knives? (oem, local brands, etc)
But more importantly, just how strict are the laws like regarding
Personal Knife ownership and carry in the Peoples Republic of China?
Thank you in advance!

(((((sigh))))) some new guy comes along, claiming to be from China, with inside info on the business, yet cannot answer basic questions on the knives produced for local consumption, the knife laws, or provide real answers to most of the questions asked.
Seems kinda fishy to me.

Um....he's been here longer than you, has more posts than you, and has itrader feedback unlike you. How does that make him "some new guy"? If he doesn't come back and answer the questions everyone is asking, then it will be fishy. It is 3am in China right now so let's give him some time.

How do the mainline China knives compare to the Taiwan made knives in your opinion?

What is the best Chinese knife you own and why do you like it so much?

It's getting harder to tell the difference between China knives and Taiwan knives as companies like Reate, Stedemon, Kizer and RealSteel step up their games. And the best Chinese knife I own is the Kizer Laconico Gemini. Why do I like it so much? That's easy. Find me a Laconico flipper anywhere else that can be had for $170. As far as I'm concerned, it's a legitimate contender for Import Knife of the Year.

I had seen the Kizer knives and was doubtful about them until they received many good GB forum recommendations. Finally I bought one and must say it is very fine quality and the S35v blade seems to be holding up as good as my CRK Zaan.

opened a Pandora Box , i think. i will work hard that let you know the industry in china.

there are so many Q here , i will input more later .

Well, this appears to be in the wrong section. This is about knife companies and counterfeits. If you are itching to tell us about the questions you asked yourself, why not go ahead?

easy question and hard to tell.

Traditional Chinese kitchen knife , we called it 菜刀 in mandarine chinese , is a kind of Square shape blade without pointy tip.

like this:

In the long old days , we chinese only have one kitchen knife in kitchen, and we eat vegetables mainly and chop up the vegetables very fine into pieces, so the 菜刀 looks more like a chopper instead a fine cutter.

there is another version of saying is that in the old days , almost 2 thousands years ago in The Qin Dynasty, old China has laws on knife controll that only those blades that have no tip was allowed . And we Chinese followed this tradition generation after generation····

i am not a historian though, hope my inputs may help you insight into the Pure Oriental Culture.

Every dollar you spend on a Chinese knife part of it goes into the PLA. You are giving the enemy money to kill your grandchildren.

Sorry I'm out of here.

Yes, I see this one a lot. I guess if the blade is thin enough it can both slice and chop. How would the name be written in our Western alphabet ? Are they exported or available in Europe ? Sorry, more questions... Thanks for taking the time.

Try Chan Chi Kee. From what I understand, they're not only high quality, but also accept direct orders.

the answer is soooo complicated. i am trying to make it clear .

Q:Where does damn things come from?

A:there is a city , called YangJang in Guangdong Province . and the YangJiang city is the center of cutery bussiness in China ,like Seki in japan. fake knives mostly come from here .

if you wanna ask me why people in yangjiang are wild about making and selling fake ones , plz let me know.:D

So are you suggesting that counterfeit knives emanate from Yangjiang, but not Xinhui, Jieyang or Xinxing?

So please tell me why the people in Yangjiang are wild about making and selling fake knives.

Thank you.
