Fall Bush Bash 2011. Camping/Bushcraft Event. October 14-16. Sequoia NF, California.

The food this time was awesome. Jason (jcav) and his wife provided AMAZING tri-tip and chicken. Rick (nevada) provided pancakes, bacon, and eggs cooked over the fire for breakfast on Sunday. Lambertiana made cobbler and scones. Sasha had bagels for everyone. I was able to offer burgers and smoked salmon for lunch.

All in all, I think I gained at least 5 pounds.

The knife challenge judging took longer than expected, but it was fun. Not something that we'll do again until we forget how time consuming this one was.

I'll post some pics in a bit.

The shooting contest was fun as well. Rick (nevada) was able to win a SWEET knife from Ray Laconico. I think we had seven people competing.

Here are a few pics to get it started.

Out of all of us there was one that clearly had the best time...Bella. That dog loves stick more than Charlie Sheen loves...well...I'll let that one go.

Bear did his best to keep up with that girl and he put on a good show for an old puppy. Sasha threw so much stick I'm surprised he can move his arm.

Beautiful warm weather the entire time.

I think we all tried it, although there was much contemplation and mental preparation before partaking.

looks like a great time, will have to really try and make the spring trip, can anyone tell me if a date has been set yet and if not when they usually set one. It is only a 4 hour drive for me, would be easy to pull off if I plan it.

Bush Bash was a blast! My girlfriend and I can not wait till the next Spring Bush Bash in May.

The food was excellent, every meal was a feast. Awesome group of people.

We even had the traditional Bush Bash right of passage chicken feet that Sasha cooked up. I must admit they were pretty tasty.

It was a treat to hold and play with all the blades from the neck knive challenge. It was interesting to hear everyones opinoins and thoughts on each individual knive.

Congrats to Rick for winning the shoot out.

I can't wait to do this again and hang out with everybody, thanks for the post and the invite Mike!

Jason, email sent with info,Is it possible to post the rankings of the knives and fill in the rest when you get time? were all on edge!!lol
Bests,Bill

Glad you could make it Paul, was nice to meet both of you. Since you liked the chicken feet so much, next year I'll generously donate my portion to you.

Real men wear sandals and have tough feet. I'm usually wearing flip flops when I'm making knives everyday. I only wear shoes when it's too cold.

Ray is in touch with his roots. In the Philippines everyone wears flip flops. I remember going by road construction sites, and seeing the guys wearing flip flops.

Man I had a great time at the bush bash. I really liked learning about, finding, and using FAT WOOD. Really cool stuff. Still not positive John did not throw the sudden death round he was shooting really well up to that point. When I say everyone was really nice I mean everyone, I do not know why knife carrying, gun toting people get such a bad rap, or maybe everyone was nice because we are all armed lol. It was really nice getting to know everyone cant wait tell we do it again. Can anyone say winter bush bash?

I took my new knife with me to work so I could show everyone, and used it to make dinner then cut up my steak with it. it excelled at every task! I'll include a crappy Iphone pic just for prof. Ray's picture on page 2 I believe is much better.

Ok... chicken feet... whatever. No grub eating!?!

No amount of garlic made that taste good.... but Sasha liked it :)

NevadaExplorer, that spot always seems to be loaded with fatwood. I'm still working off of this hung from about two years ago

Christian I totally remember that first bushbash. I was telling them about it. Crazy weather and great adventure. We really missed you this time.

Going to be late with my pics as i forgot my camera at my parents. Rick did forget that i got the chance to break in that great knife he won by cleaning cutting off the toe nails on the chicken feet. I cut them right thru the bone and that knife didnt even show it. Great knife it is. Those feet were realy good, You boys need to man up and stop whinning
Chris that grub was good it was just in your mind that prevented you from enjoying it lol... Next time it would fried with some butter and you would go looking for more.

From all the pics of Bella im thinking that next bush bash i can stay home and just have one of you pick Bella up for the trip. Then bring her back home, ya all going to miss her more then me.
