Favorite bowies?

Classic could also refer to such a knife made by well established, widely known manufacturer with rather long history in making knives and to particular model being tested and proved by many, over long period of time as very functional, effective design...

So the Bowie era knives were not based on time-tested and proven designs?

What I understand by term of "classic" Bowie style knife in my own words is the knife, which plain and simple design is reminiscent very much to old western style Bowie shaped blade (without any fancy,or modern additional features incorporated within blade or handle).

Like fullers and clip points?

Well if we are throwing the sub $200 stipulation out the window...

;) :) :D

Some from Bruce Evans

The Rose NY Bowie from Flayderman's Bowie book

and its case

Bruce Evans sure makes beautiful Bowieknives and that Peter Rose replica is simply awesome!

My latest big knife is the Bark River 7" Custom Bowie model A.

I'm very pleased with it, as it's made to be a user for tough jobs.

For off the shelf production knives, the Fällkniven NL series are availible almost allover the World.

No NL's have so far come back to FK in pieces.
Personally I think they are at the top, when looking for production knives.

10" of 5160 :)

And one from the late 1800s just for fun, even if it is little...

I agree!
I believe it came from the personal supply of TKC's owner Dale Stoops and once again he delivered top Stag!
Not an easy thing to do with todays shortage of good Sambar Stag.
