Favorite EDC Spyderco?

I just got a Bob T Slipit, and I think this will be my favorite EDC blade, and also my Gayle Bradley. The Bob T's F&F is great, the only thing that I don't like is the lanyard attachment but I can live with it. Same with the F&F on the Gayle Bradley it's an awesome knife.

Just curious, do you ever get the feeling that the cutting edge on the Sage design is too short? At least in my use, I haven't run into this problem.

It's not that the cutting edge is too short. It's that I feel that my finger is so close to the cutting edge on the blade choil. Not that it's ever slipped off..

But I find the Tenacious handle Ergos to be great. I think the next logical step in its evolution is to offer upgraded steel. You'd have sort of a Tenacious/Sage Hybrid.

The FRN Stretch II and the Gayle Bradley are the two that I find that I put in my pocket the most. If I had to choose just one it would be the Stretch but the GB is one sweet blade.

Ok, so I went Spyderco shopping today, just to get a feel for them. I think I'm leaning toward the Spyderco VG-10 Endura4 with the all black combo blade. I played with the Police, but think its a bit big for me to justify an EDC and while he didn't have the Military in stock, I was told it was roughly the same size.

Here is the Endura4 Black with the VG-10 combo blade

I have one, EDC'd it and it's all right, but I would favor the CE FRN Stretch over the Endura anytime. Lighter, better slicer due to FullFlatGrind, and as you can see, the black coating of the E4 wears off, making it a bit "used-looking". To be honest, it was my own fault, because I accidently kind of scrubbed the finish away, but I did so beacuse of ugly marks on the coating to begin with. Further advantages of the Stretch: shorter and better contoured handle for a safer grip while less bulky in the pocket - but still nearly the same usable blade length, and of course a choil for choking up on the blade for finer cutting tasks. The Endura is a very good knife and I own several of them, but it can't hold a candle to the finer Stretch. For tough abuse, the Endura is more suited though. After all E4 and D4 were designed for the Average Joe that doesn't know much about knives. These people don't seem to own a screwdriver or a prybar though, so a Stretch wouldn't be the right knife for them.

I love my native pe! Its probably my favorite edc although I will have to say that probably my most used edc is the atlantic salt just because of its corrosion resistance

Damn...he didn't have one of those to look at! Now I'm all confused again...thanks! :)

I'll have to hunt around and see if I can find one to play with, thanks!

Poliwog in SS.

Great lock, great steel, great ergos and very strong.

Would have preferred the cutting edge to be longer but still fine as it is. Also even with constant opening/closing for a very very long time now, there is no travel of the lock ball (apart from the 2mm initial movement, now almost 2 years and no perceivable movement :)).

Next in my list is the Phoenix. Absolutely love my ball-lock Spydies.

You're welcome... I'm just trying to help :D

Seriously, I like both (see below). But when it comes to cutting, maybe even in the kitchen, the Stretch blows the Endura out of the water. It is a little bit pricier though, but not that much. And it pays off, trust me.

Nice colletion you got there Dennis! You don't happen to own a Spyderco Military do you? If you do, could you possibly take a picture with it, an Endura4 and the Stretch all together? The only one the shop by me had was the Endura4, so I'd like to do a size comparison at least if possible.

Thanks so much!

The paramilitary is my favorite folding knife of all time. I love it and I alternate between these four for EDC.

No problem:

Delica, Street Beat, Stretch, Military D2, Police 3

Thank you for that! That is very close to actual size, no? Maybe the Military is not too big. I am going to have to hunt down some of these to actually hold and assess.

best regards,

I like these too, but have to get a personal look at them. I'm worried the blade won't be long enough for my satisfaction. Spyderco site shows length at 3 3/32"

Thank you for the pics!

Depends on the size of your screen. on my 22", the knives appear actually bigger than than they are.

If you can't find a b&m store that carries the 3, maybe you can order all of them online, decide which one(s) you like best and send back or even sell the other(s).

Just got a Sage II today. Pure butter....:D

Great size, simplistic but elegant. Flat ground and framelocked.

Liked the Para alot(traded for a Bark River but looking for another) but this my sweetest Spyderco yet...

You have to try The stretch FRN. for my small hands it opens faster than an endra and it feel good in hand.
