Favorite Large Folders?

I love the look of the Pohl Alpha II, can you open it one-handed? I don't see any thumb devices or flippers.

One handed opening is illegal for carry in Germany, so I believe it has a removable thumb plate.

My Alpha One has a removable thumb plate, indeed for German carry laws. I believe (not 100% sure) that in Germany one-hand opening knives should not lock, and for two-hand opening knives there are far less limitations.
Alpha Two comes in 2 variants: a two hand opening "Outdoor" variant with normal metal colored blade, and two tactical variants ("Survival" and "Desert") with dark blade and removable thumb disk.

It's really quite an awesome, very sturdy knife.

Thanks for all of these suggestions guys, I love a lot of them but some are pricey... wish I had more money. Feel free to make me your favorite charity if any of those models you listed you feel you can part with. :P

All I have are large folders. My sweet spot is a 4.5"to blade.

(( don't need the distraction ))

I recognize the Espada there and I own a Spartan and a Spyderfly... looks like you modified your Spartan a bit? And did you drill holes for left side carry of your Espada or does it offer this option? I want an Espada but the pics I've seen didn't seem to offer left side support (I'm a lefty)... I'm no good at knife mods.

That third knife you have there looks cool, what is it?

Actually, it's not a CS Espada... It's a custom Navajah by Andrew Demko. The 3rd one down is a BM Skirmish that I wave modded and drilled for tip up carry. I ground the blade double edged to be safely covered when closed. I carry with the clip mounted left handed but I'm not a lefty. It enables me to do a forward wave draw into a edge out icepick (reverse) grip.

I cannot open mine one handed very effectively. The knife is so big you have to choke up on it before you can attempt to use the thumb stud.

It can be done just not as fast as most folders.

It is a BIG knife and probably one of the most comfortable folders I have. It allows for multiple hand holds.

My favorites in the large size are my BM 630 Skirmish, 610 Rukus, and ZT-0301.

Stainz

CM, nice knives and roach. My favorite is the CS Gunsite for pure craziness and for pure usefullness I love my CS Triad lock Recon 1.

I won't repeat the popular ones already recommended except to say the Spyderco Military is usually in my right back pocket.

The Cold Steel Rajah II is a folding axe of a knife. Not a great choice for EDC, but nice to have in the woods.

Take a look at the Boker Mini Resurrection. With a 4" blade, over 9" overall, it is not "mini" but it is a formidably heavy-duty and well-made knife.

I think someone did mention the Hogue series. I have the 4" drop point in green G-mascus. Great knife and a great bargain at the price.

The term "large" is somewhat subjective but for me my favorite "large" folders are:

Spyderco Military
Benchmade Large Onslaught
Navy K602 (copy of a BM 630 Skirmish)
BM 610 Rukus

Esav, great to hear from you. I will take a look at this Boker. By the way, what is G-mascus, I know Damascus but I don't know this other.
I've been wondering about carrying a knife in the back pocket, is it okay to sit on it, etc?
