Favorite production Fixed Blade & Why ?

My favourite production knife is a title that keeps changing all the time. My absolute favourite knives overall are customs, but for the production knives, currently my favourite is, oddly enough, the Busse NMSFNO. It has very little in common with my absolute favourite knife which is a custom puukko, but it is an excellent knife and a lot of fun. :D

I'm similar to kgd in that I have a lot of favorites. Each time I go afield there's a big debate as to which knife (or knives) to carry. I recently acquired a BR FT Kephart, and that's going on the next trip no matter what. I really like the utility and no frills simplicity of design; looks really good in Natural Canvas Micarta.

P.S. Almost forgot. I've been getting into Busse & Swamp Rat lately: Ratweiler, Rat Mastiff, Hell Razor, ETS SJAC (nice 6 1/2" blade). These are all candidates when I feel the need for a heavy blade.

In the big blade group, it has to be the Becker BK1, the Brute rocks.

Overall though, I would agree with tknife, but in the opposite order, the Becker BK10 Crewman is number one, followed closely by the RAT RC-4. It is surprising, with the very different grips on them, but they both seem to fit my hand well and are comfortable to use.

I may have to look into an F1 or A1 in the future, they seem to show up a lot on lists like this.

Another Bravo 1 fan here:

Real comfortable handle. Size is right for me.
Good steel. Just an overall good knife.

For the price The RC-3 is real hard to beat. Very tough and dependable little knife.

RC-3 get the nod from me!!!

Cliff, did you file off the thumb ramp?

Yeah,I had to get rid of that.
About 10 minutes on the belt sander & it was history.
It didn't really bother me,but I never actually used it for anything.
I know it was intended to be a surface to strike a fero rod,but it works just as well for that without the ramp.
Without the ramp this feels like an entirely different (better) knife.
Still fits in the leather sheath just fine.

huh.. i think it looks much better without it... i might have to look into doing that to mine..

Another vote for the BRKT line. It's a toss up between the Northstar and Little Creek.

RC-3p for me, followed by the CS Bushman. Much discussed but rarely given the praise I feel it deserves. Just about indestructible and very versatile, as well as costing virtually nothing.

RC-6P for me I just got mine and this is on fantastic knife. Especialy for a production number.

becker necker
good size and form, good steel, and it was freakin 35 bucks.
That is the most I've ever spent on a knife too :D (except for my leatherman i guess, but that's more than just a knife)
