Fehrman knives

I have had nothing but great experiences with Fehrman knives..

I just wish they would have stuck with the original designs instead of squaring them off.

The extreme judgment has to be one of the best 3 choppers I own and 3 Final judgments is a testimony to themselves
 
I have quite a few Busse's and love them, however this little Fehrman PM always finds the way into my hands no matter what I am after :)

Hi guys, Does Fehrman change the size of their handles? Is their a knife that is better for someone with freakishly large hands?

before reading this thread, I thought that Fehrman used all the handle sizes for their 0.25" thick Survival Series knives (the Fehrman website leads me to believe that all these handles are all 5.5"). i have huge mitts, the reason i havent bought a Fehrman yet is because i hear the Fehrman handles are small and have somewhat limited grips. im sure there is a Fehrman knife that can be comfortable for me. i was noticing that the First Strike had a larger handle than the Last Chance. can you Fehrman fans verify this? i want to make sure my eyes are playing tricks on me. whatabout a Shadow Scout and a First Strike? which handle is more comfortable and versatile for large hands?

Personally, I found the grip on the Final Judgment TOO LARGE. That was my one and only issue with the knife; I can say that, other than that one sticking point, it was the finest knife I had ever owned. Keep in mind, this was 5 years ago, so they may have changed the handle size since then, but it doesn't look like it.

Bug bit me big time and I ordered and paid for a Fehrman .....then all is quiet ...... any idea if Fehrman responds to mail erractic or fast??

audrey my final judgment came in 17 days from time it was ordered. most people i know have had great delivery time. do'nt worry they are a small but stand up company. one of the tuffest knives i've ever owned.

I talk to them on a semi-regular basis and sent them an email late last week and still haven't heard back.

I'll give them a call today and mention it.

So, which one did you get? :)

I usually receive mine about 4 weeks after I order one.
Alaska is almost a foreign country when it comes to shipping/receiving internet orders and mail.
South Africa might take a bit longer of course.

Like Dennis said, Fehrman is an honest company, so I wouldn’t worry about them not getting you your knife in as timely a fashion as possible. However, they aren’t that great in responding to e-mails, maybe because they have a major tool and die business to run.

A phone call always gets me a good face to face with them though. (I know, it’ll cost you a bit from down there)
 
Got the First Strike .....;) Cannot wait as they have a superior reputation ..... ;)

I was not saying anything bad about Fehrman but I expected a small operation and e-mails can be a pain :) I'll up the meds!!

I ordered a First Strike last week. My PeaceMaker took about 7 days to be in my hand.

Both erratic and fast depending on when you catch me and how much steel is moving through the shop :)

I am working on your order Aubrey, its just taking me a while since you have so many blades coming your way plus we are gearing up for a knife show here in Ohio this week so we are pretty swamped.

Your knives look awesome and I heard rumblings (and notice your avatar) of orange grips, will you possibly be offering options?

Also, do you do any customizations? Fehrman Custom shop sounds cool.

No rush!! It is good to hear you are busy when many companies are slowing down or closing their doors. Take the time you need ..... Swiss may have measured time accuratly first but us Africans still own time :)

it's been my observation that eric ferhman is prompt to respond to his customers & my 2nd order hit the door in 9 days. members should remember these are really custom knives & i've yet to see a blade retain the sharpness as the ferhman after cutting a ton of mesquite. this wood is easily 150% harder than hickory.
