Not the whole collection, but the last time the majority of these will be clean again for a while (just went on a flitzing binge a week ago) -- I'll be taking a few up to the 'park for a multi-day outing this weekend! :D

Will:

Your new Sneaky Pete and Bushcrafter look right at home fresh from Blade Show. Does the African Black Wood have weight to it like Ironwood does ?

Peter

Thanks Pete -- the blackwood is very similar in weight and density to the ironwood; truth be told its also a little slick! I'm hoping that with some use I can wear a bit of the ultra-smooth top layer away and get down to a bit more tactile figure...Athough this stuff is pretty darn hard, so it might be a while ;)

Here is my modest collection. Everything else that wasn't being used has moved on. I've even got Mrs Schmitties 12 year anniversary Shadetree pink cotton Ladyfinger in there!

I wasn't planning on keeping the Karda, but the more I handle it, the more I like it. And darn it! The Mrs wants to keep it for herself! Lol

That bushfinger is pretty close to my dream fiddleback. That same configuration in a sneaky pete would be right up there too! Gosh it is beautiful.

After going through this thread again, admiring all of the collections you guys have, I have to admit I am REALLY surprised at how few Recluses there are out there. Is it just not a popular model? Or is it because it seems so few are made?

I've been dying to get one for years but folded under the overwhelming popularity if the Bushfinger. I do think the Recluse would be the perfect hunting knife, for me anyway. The Hunter was overkill for my use.

Hey All:

If a loved one begins to express curiosity over your ever expanding collection of Fiddleback's you can try responding like I did the other day by deflecting the direct question and sending my darling wife this attachment in an email. When she opened it on her ipad she immediately began laughing. Fortunately it seemed to work......for now, or until the next package arrives from The Forge ;)

Cheers

I'm going to try that one! We would love to see some pics of that expanding collection though!

I'd say the Recluse and Ladyfinger are slightly superior to the Bushfinger for preparing game, but a full height ground Bushfinger is a better general purpose kitchen knife.

Of these 3 I'd go with the Bushfinger (5/32") for general use, Recluse (5/32") for large game and Ladyfinger (1/8") for smaller game and fish. All of them are pretty good at everything though...

At the dinner table the other night, my wife says "honey, I think maybe you buy more things than I know about". Hmmmm..... I did the safe thing and just smiled and let one of the kids open the next topic of discussion. I hope she doesn't look in the shoe box under the bed! LOL

You have an OCD shoe collection too?!?!

Will,

I think I should e-mail your wife and offer her $500 cash to spend on new shoes for her in exchange for the old "shoes" in your secret shoe box. :D I think I would see a good return on investment. :thumb up:

Phil

Phil, If you emailed, she would probably send them to you just for the asking... my knife problem drives her nuts! LOL My big knives are too long for the shoe box, so maybe she would not send those away! :)
