Fiddleback Collections

Bit of an update; finding myself drawn back to curls & burls again ;)

IMG_20141018_104356_zps3a073d87.jpg

Can't get over that Duke and Camp Nessie. Very nice collection Will.

I want that Ironwood hiking buddy! I scored a nice Bushfinger with a curly q. If your interested in a trade?:D

The OG Hiking Buddy came in yesterday and I really like it. It's got a nice fat handle with a very organic feel. I also came by a blackwood Recluse that I haven't had a chance to use yet but I think I'll like it. I didn't want them to be camera shy so I included the Maple Nessie and the tapered CPM Bubinga Kephart. That brings to mind have you guys seen many tapered stainless Kepharts? I've looked around some but have only found 2 or 3.

Those are all very nice C_Stahl!!!! I have not seen any tapered stainless kepharts before. I would really like a stainless kephart and tapered would be a bonus! That nessis is sweet too!! Nice score on the hiking buddy - it looks perfect.

Hey Will, If you ever want to move that Bushcrafter because you found something more Burly, let me know! I guess I will probably have to take a number and get in line.

Mine is from the FBF 9/6/13 and I believe Arizona Custom had a dyed wood one go across a while back. The Hiking Buddy is probably the most natural feeling one I've got.

It makes me so happy that you're enjoying that Nessie. I havent seen one come out in a while that i felt was better than that one!

Yep the Nessie is going to stick around for a while. I really like the weight foward feel of it and obviously it's gorgeous. Thanks again for for dealing with me on that one.

It's been a while since I've done a collection pic, and some new ones have been added, so here is a new (almost) complete pic, along with some themed sub-collection pics so you can get a closer view. I post these hoping that the comparison picks help someone pick out their first/next Fiddleback and join the addiction.

The Arete is missing from these as it's out on the pass-around.

There's been a subtle change to my recent pickups with a new focus on naturally stable hardwoods for my EDC blades.

Great collection. Love the Camp Nessie and Longfellow.
Also, if you ever consider getting rid of the carver. I would love to have a shot at it.

Thurin, Very nice pics!!!!! That is so cool, being able to see them side by side at the same angle!!!!!

More awesome collection photos Nathan. I love the way that you organize all of your sub-categories. You can probably guess which sub-category is my favorite. ;)

Thanks for the update photos. I am looking forward to hearing your thoughts on the new Esquire.

Echoing others sentiment -- great update Nathan!! I'm loving the natural woods for EDC; a man after my own heart! Fantastic collection my friend

Thanks Preston. The Camp Nessie is my favorite. I hope to spend some more time with the Longfelllow soon. Unfortunately, time seems to be at a premium lately.

Damn fine collection Thurin, how do you like that bear paw?

The Bear Paw is a really good knife. I think it's one of the most underrated in the Forge's lineup.

Thanks Will! I have fun doing the comparison stuff, and always hope other people take something away from 'em.

That BC is still a showstopper

The color combo, grind and spalting all come together on that one for sure. Of course it's Andy and crew that deserve all the credit. I'm just the one fortunate enough to pick it up.

Thanks brother! My Shadetree will never compete, but I'm very happy at how it's coming along. The Esquire looks to be a fun little knife. I need to get some pants for it so I can add it to the rotation and do a review.

Thanks Will. I'm really liking the wood for EDC. Just something about the look and feel of 'em. My collection tends to stay on the plain jane end of the spectrum compared to some of the gorgeous burls and curls and dyed ones that are out there. I'm happy where I'm at, but am still amazed at what I see in other's.

Solid collection Nathan... I love the sub-themes you have going on.

Solid Collection Baron- really like that antique hiking buddy. Do you like the feel of that bear paw? I'm asking you as I did Thurin because I may be interested in one. I like filling handles. how does it feel compared to the bush finger?

Thanks!!

I love the bear paw, it's beefier than the bushfinger for sure. I really like the handle shape...
