RIP Robin Williams. So many great roles, so many great lines. My daughters had just discovered Mrs. Doubtfire. Sad, sad, sad.

If anybody comes on here and denigrates depression or mental illness....well, we're going to have words. Outside.

Our human condition is so frail, so broken, so full of pain.
Hear, hear.

I'm utterly heartbroken about Robin. I lived in the Bay Area for a short time and lived very near him. Even though I never met him personally, we shared a lot of the same problems. He frequented some of the meetings that I use to go to there. Everyone liked him just as much if not more in person. Along with many many others, he was a beacon of hope in a time when I needed it more than anything else.

Though I didn't actually have the nerve to speak with him, I'll greatly miss him.

Rest in peace RW. Hope all of your suffering is over now. :(

About a month ago this little guy escaped my neighbor's backyard. He had dreads and sloth size nails. He wasn't loved the way he should have been (his owners work long hours). I explained to them that I would be happy to take their dog if they ever decided that they just couldn't keep him. It was an awkward conversation. They said they would think about it. The little guy would escape his makeshift cage they made for him and would sneak over every chance he got. Well they reinforced the cage and I hadn't seen him for about three weeks.

Well guess who showed up in the backyard today? Knowing very well that he didn't just get out (they reinforced his cage very well) I had a feeling that the neighbors had a change of heart. Right as I was thinking this, the door bell rings and it's my neighbors. They said that the pup stares out his cage towards my yard every day. When they let him out, he dashes for the hole in the fence. They explained that they are too busy and can't give him the love he deserves and after a lot of thinking, they are willing to part with him.

So here's my new adopted buddy- El Chewy

Sometimes owners pick their dogs and sometimes dogs pick their owners. I believe your case is the latter my friend. Don't let the little guy down; I'm sure you won't.

That's a cute pup JD. He decided the grass is greener. I'm sure he'll be much happier now.

I grew up with big dogs (Old English Sheep dog) and always preferred the large breeds. When I was in college, my parents got a teacup Yorkie. I was very surprised, especially that my Dad went along with it and I wasn't sure what to think.

First time I visited, I totally change my perspective. They are an awesome breed.

All the breed wants is to be with you. What your neighbors did, due to the nature of the breed, is pretty much psychological abuse for that breed. Some dogs are perfectly happy being left alone, not Yorkies.

In case you've never had the breed before, don't be too alarmed if he does "reverse sneezing". First time you experience it, you may think they are choking or having a seizure.

Also, FYI as they get older, they typically have a lot of teeth problems, especially, as sounds likely in this case, they weren't properly taken care of when they were young.

The grass is always greener at Duders!

Man, very cute little pooch, he's lucky to have you guys as his new family. Give him a scratch for me!

Thanks for the info. Is he a Yorkie? I thought he was a long haired Chihuahua.

Here's another pic of him.

Man, that is so cool of you duder to take in that little guy. I am glad he has a good home now. One of my neighbor's cats started showing up at my yard awhile back. She was very shy and would not let people pet her. For some reason she took a liking to me. The ironic thing is I am allergic to cats. Now she sits in front of my door or in my yard and waits for me to pet her. I try to give her some attention everyday and she seems to really like it. When we go on vacation my next door neighbor says she sits in front of my front porch and meows.

With animals and people too, a little love goes a long ways.

Could be a mix, but from your pics he definitely has the coloration of a Yorkie. Your first 2 pics looked like pure Yorkie to me, but in your 3rd pic, I can see where you think he has some Chihuahua.

Yorkies have a very unique coat that feels more like human hair than dog fur. They also do not shed. Chihuahuas on the other hand, do shed.

So if he doesn't shed, he's probably either a full Yorkie or at least got that part of his Yorkie heritage. If he does shed, then he's mixed with something else, quite possibly a Chihuahua.

Thanks a lot. It was good to get away, and quite timely. I appreciate your thoughts, prayers, well wishes, smoke signals, and solidarity. You're all class acts.

Hopefully I'll get some pics up in the adventures thread here in the next couple days.

Michael

Praying for you and the other family.

I'm so sorry to hear about your friend Michael. Try and stay positive brother. Prayers out to you and your friend's family.

Have fun camping. Take lots of pics.

Hi Michael,

I am very sorry to hear about the passing of your friend. Take comfort in knowing that he is with Jesus now after having run the good race. I obviously didn't know your friend personally, but he must have been a very loving person to dedicate his life to the ministry and the lives of so many. He left a big legacy to those he touched in his life. Honoring that legacy, and then building upon it, is often the hardest thing for family and friends to do. I pray that the weekend away will give you some peaceful time for reflection.

Phil

Michael
Sorry to hear the news of your friends passing.
Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family and also his.

Mick

Michael, I'm sorry to hear about your friend the minister that passed away. Will be praying for his family and those that were in his care as they go through a really tough time with lots of questions. My pastor, who was also my boss and friend, was killed in a car wreck 12 years ago. It's a tough time to go through.

Michael,

So sorry to hear about your friend. Our time here is short and unpredictable. It sounds like as a minister, he focused on the important things in this life. Sending prayers to you and his family.

Best,

Tod

So sorry to hear about your Friend Pastor Michael. Being a shepherd and staying steadfast in one's faith in God is a lonely and challenging road, I've experienced it with my dad having been a pastor for many years. Prayers go out to his family, his friends, and of course to you. Hope God provides the necessary consolation and encouragement for your heart. But I also rejoice in knowing that your friend is with our father in Heaven.

I hope you're able to find some solace in the days ahead and come to some understanding. Hope you enjoyed the camping trip too!

Our human condition is so frail, so broken, so full of pain. Where does our hope come from? This is my third attempt to respond to this thread this evening, after deleting all previous attempts due to lack of...

To my brothers mourning great loss, I pray for comfort and understanding. To my brothers battling with illness, I pray for healing. Lastly, I pray for the ability to surrender self in all relationships that I have both hear on earth and with Christ my Savior.

Well today I'm receiving a super cool birthday present . . . no, it's not a a Fiddleback, though that would be cool too! This trumps all that. There is more adoption paperwork to be done!!! She is ours!!! Happy birthday to me!!
