Fiddleback community center

I'm so thankful for the last two weeks. My kids have been sick and off of school so we haven't gone out much at all. This time at home has led to some great conversations with my daughter and son. They're some great little people, they really are. My daughter has the softest heart, but don't cross her. She's taking karate and the life lessons that comes with it very seriously and she goes for the jugular physically and straight for the heart emotionally. My son is just a little Duder. Well, he's just a happy, joking little boy that's in and out of trouble, but he really has a geniune heart and I'm proud of him. They're my family and they are truly a blessing and that sunshine that wakes me in the morning.

My stepmother, well the lady that raised me from when I was two, just found out two days ago that her colon cancer has not come back. She was so happy as we're all of us. She'll do another test in three years.

All in all, though I'm stuck at home with sick kids and no other extended family, I couldn't be happier and more proud.

It's a wonderful life.

Cheers guys!

Josiah

Matthew,

I am praying that the Lord touches little Braxton in the womb and makes him whole. I am also praying for your brother and sister-in-law that they have a sense of peace and do not worry about this condition that they cannot control.

Thanks for letting us know.

Phil that was very touching. If you don't mind I would just like to quote your words and allow you to speak for me and my family. Mathew, Braxton and your family are in our prayers.

Josiah

Wonderful post. I hope you enjoyed a wonderful Thanksgiving. Give mom a hug from all of us!!

Well, it's a beautiful spring day here. Sadly, somebody thought it was a good day for criminal activity too. The last 2 months I've noticed an increase in brazen theft here. A couple months ago I stopped by the church to see that someone had taken a pry bar to the door and lock. They didn't get in though, must have got scared away. Then I receive my long awaited Fiddleback box to find out that somebody had opened and stole my knife . . . but they were kind enough to put a piece of brick back in its place to make up for the missing weight . . . how kind of them. Then we decide to have a 'garage sale' to get rid of excess stuff and we had a couple well dressed "sweet" old ladies steal some of our stuff while we were tied up with other people.

So that brings me back to today. We went to church, I taught Sunday School, preached the morning message, went down to our truck to drop off our Bibles and my wife's bag with all her Sunday School supplies. All is good, we had a good day, really felt the Spirit working while preaching. We are only a block from the center of the city, so we walked 1 ½ blocks to a restaurant, ate lunch and walked back to the truck. We turned the corner to see that somebody had smashed our back passenger window! They did it in broad daylight, so they just did a quick grab. They stole my daughters bags with their notebooks and pens, my wife's SS bag and all the supplies, and my 6 year old's Bible. She is really sad that someone stole her Bible! So, now I get to try and get new glass. Last time I had a window broken it took 7 months and 3 different pieces of glass to still not have it right! Here's to hoping that this time it won't take long and that I'll be able to get the right replacement window.

Definitely made it hard to be here today and love these people! I guess we must be doing something right here since we seem to be under attack!

A quick prayer if you would...

My wife, children and I just drove down from Northern Michigan to southern Ohio To be a part of not only Thanksgiving with our family, but also a revealing party in which my brother and sister in law were going to come straight home from the hospital after an ultrasound and reveal whether in five months they would be having a boy or girl. They found out they were having a little boy....but also found out his little skeletal system was not growing to accommodate his lungs and heart..they told them he would live in the womb full term but never take his first breath on the outside, we believe God works miracles and can give peace that passes understanding, either way would be ideal...would you pray for peace for the family, or a miracle for the baby....which ever is Gods will.

I'm praying for Braxton too Matthew. And his family. This kinda thing really stirs my heart.

That stinks brother. I'm sorry to hear it. Sending smoke your way too.

Condor, about 3 years ago someone stole my laptop...from my desk...in my office...at church....while I was preaching on a Sunday. Talk about feeling violated! Things are just things, but the invasion is something else, entirely.

Keep fighting the good fight.

Condor,
That down right stinks. Prayers out to you that the rest of the year is free of the criminal activity that you've seen over the last little bit.

Thanks! I appreciate your support.

Man, that's a bummer Condor. Like you said just the enemy tryin to get at you.
Peace

Sometimes in the moment it's hard to remember that, but today is another day! Looking forward to the ministry opportunities this week . . . and we'll see if there are any more trials along the way too.

Praying for you my missionary friend!

Thank you!

That's brazen too! And you are absolutely right, it's not the things, its the invasion. It makes you feel unsafe and untrusting. I can only hope that the thief will read the Bible they stole and go over the Sunday School materials and be convicted! Maybe they'll get saved :)

Thanks. We are waiting for the day that its our house that is hit. We have other missionary friends that have had their houses hit 4 or more times. That will be the ultimate feeling of violation. We try to steel ourselves to the idea, but I don't think we'll ever be able to fully be ready for all those emotions.

I called the mechanic this morning. They are trying to secure glass for us. I'm supposed to bring our truck to him tomorrow, hopefully this won't take nearly as long as it did a few years ago.

Never really expected to post up anything here. But yesterday, my wife and I found out she has breast cancer. It's been a shock and a devastating blow, especially since she is only in her mid 30s.

Here comes a fight but a road to recovery....
