Fiddleback Fourlegged Friends

Well today I had to lay Rocco "I keel you" Garcia to rest. There were so many reasons why this was a good decision, but the selfish person inside me still wishes he was still around. He passed in my wife's arms as I caressed his ears and thanked him for all the good and bad times, for all the lessons and patience he taught me and for all the loyalty he showed and the last words he heard were "You're a good boy Rocco."

If you have a dog, give him a treat, take him for a walk and tell him or her that their a good dog, for Rocco "I keel you" Garcia.

Josiah I am so very sorry about your loss. There isn't much that I can say that will lighten your heart except you in are in my family's thoughts and prayers for a lightened spirit. Our pets are so important to our families. Rocco was a beautiful dog and obviously a devoted friend. Peace my good friend. I will simply say "I am sorry".

Sorry for your loss Duder... We do not have a pup ourselves, but my parents dog is very much part of the family. I'll be thankful for the time when I see him this week.

Take care and RIP Rocco

That decision is one of the most heart wrenching a person will ever have to make. I've been through it too. Glad you two old friends were able to enjoy each other's company even if it wasn't long enough, for it never is. You were loved, Rocco.

Omg. That's the worst news to hear. Rocco was the best and I loved seeing his pictures and hearing of his exploits. I've always referred to Andy's tuxedo config as the Rocco config since he got sick this summer. Prayers for you and your family. He'll always be with you.

Josiah......So sorry to hear about Rocco's passing....... my sincere sympathy for the loss of your friend & companion.

Josiah,

I am saddened by the news of Rocco's passing. Our dogs unconditionally love us and nothing makes them happier than when we do anything big or small to acknowledge them and show that we love them back. You have done a lot to make Rocco feel loved and appreciated, even with this final decision to make him comfortable in the end. I am glad that you had these last seven months together after the big scare with him back in April. I am sure that you made the most of it.

Please accept my condolences for losing your little friend.

Phil

So sorry to hear this Josiah. Rocco was a good buddy (even with his I Keel You snarl) and it's sad to hear of his passing. Condolences my friend.

So sorry to hear of your loss of Rocco. The pain is sharp when you loose a part of the family. My heart goes out to you.

So sorry to hear. Hope you can take some comfort knowing that he was surrounded by those he loved.

Such a hard thing … hang in there, man.

Joe,

I don't know you or Rocco but my heart hurt as I read this. I'm sure you gave him some amazing times! Deepest condolences to you and yours.

You know, I've buried parents, grand parents, in-laws and some very close friends. Burying my dog of 17 years still ranks as one of the toughest things I've had to do in my life. That was 5 years ago and I still get a lump in my throat thinking about it.

My sincere condolences to you, Joe

My condolences. I know our dog is one of the family and I cant imagine being without him.

Many thanks for all the comments and PMs. This community is really awesome! Your comments mean more than I can express. Thank you.

Rocco symbolized a lot to my wife and I. He was a symbol of a life before marriage, children, houses, careers, and real responsibility. I remember when we purchased him, my wife and I said to each other "We're gonna be old when we have to put Rocco to sleep." Well, we're not old, but we've aged quite a bit and putting Rocco down was kinda like an ending to the youthful, carefree chapters of our life and relationship together. We look forward to many more pets and years together, but our hearts will forever have that empty spot where Rocco once sat. He will be missed and never forgotten.

Thanks again guys.

Josiah.
