Thanks a lot Whitty for this awesome contest/drawing! Personally, this was a great opportunity to reflect on this passion we have for Fiddleback Forge.
Owning a Fiddleback knife isn’t a mere, cold exchange of goods and payment. It is a unique and wonderful
EXPERIENCE that continues to give well beyond the initial transaction.
When you first behold a Fiddleback in person, you’re struck by its
BEAUTY. The combination of matching and contrasting colors, attractive lines, exotic & countless scales, and the signature bull’s eye lanyard hole are harmonized into the art that is Fiddleback.
After such encounter, one wills himself to use this treasure, from which he’s greeted with its superior
FUNCTIONALITY. Comfortable handles and efficient blade geometry are the shining features of these lean and mean machines. The handles naturally index to the comfort of one’s hand, and there are plenty of task specific, yet versatile blade profiles to choose from to satisfy all indoor and outdoor needs. My personal favorite is also my first, the Bushcrafter. Beyond its beauty lies a comfy, well thought out handle, and a blade profile that is jack of all trades. Its robust, near centered tip; ample belly and height; and of course the efficient and robust convex grind excel in just about all bushcraft tasks (including food prep).
But Andy Roy, the knifemaker, isn’t the complacent sort. Andy continues challenging himself and the crew to
IMPROVE their execution, and to develop new
INNOVATIVE designs.
Could anyone really ask for more than that? Well you got it anyways! Something that goes beyond the aforementioned tangibles:
COMMUNITY. Regardless of whether you own a “Fiddie” or not, once you join Andy’s sub on the BladeForums, you’re welcomed into the community of friendly, generous Fiddleback lovers, where Andy himself and the crew are engaged like they’re one of the gang.
Oh, and did I mention that they are made in the
USA? Boom.
