Here is a quick side by side of the Bushcrafter along with a Bushcrafter Jr.

That is a beautiful set of bushcrafters you have there Peter!

So, a big fat handled Hiking Buddy? :)

I think I would like to try the bushcraft jr. handle with a monarch blade ... I would call it the bushfly.

Really like that Monarch, how did you manage to get both hands in the pictures? Did you have a helper taking pictures for you?

Yes, we were camping and just hanging out by the creek so I had my wife snap a shot for me. I am really digging the blade on the monarch.

Put some orange liners on my production Bushfinger last night. I'm really happy with the look and feel of them.

Forgive the crappy pic...

Can you please link me to the source of the liners? Thanks.

I'm not sure how the rules work with me linking someones info who isn't a paid craftsmen on this site (I don't think he is at least). I believe that Whitty from USAmadeblade.com will be selling them soon though. I'm sure if you contact him, he can get you squared away.

If I can share his info without breaking any rules, I would be glad to. Anyone here know for sure?

Made a whistle out of some river bamboo. Loving my new Esquire! 5/32 Tapered Tang is a GREAT combo for this size knife and this thing is slices-n-dices.

That is a very attractive handle combo on your Esquire Bud. 5/32" tapered seems to be my favorite default choice for many models. Thanks for sharing the photo.

That esquire is very sharp looking Bud! It reminds me of some of the older Fiddlebacks. Definitely one of my favorite synthetic handle combos in awhile.

Just out of curiosity, what is it that you guys prefer about the 5/32"?

I'm not a knife expert by any means, but I tend to prefer thinner blades in the smaller models. Seems to suit the tasks I generally expect from a small knife. But I could easily be missing something here...

I just picked up a 3/32" Esquire with a scandi grind and I'm loving it.

Thanks,
DH

I have one of the 3/32 scandi Esquires too, but the 5/32 TT ergonomics and weight balance fits my hand much better. Personal preference.

Cool. Thanks, Bud.

It's good to hear opinions like this from guys like you who have collections that include the same profile in different configurations. (And it's good to know when opinions are based on personal preference versus more substantive reasons regarding how the knives perform.)

For me, where balance is concerned, in the smaller knives I like the weight to be in the tang/handle and not in the blade. I like thinner blades because I don't like pushing fat blades through things (especially food). But I prefer fat, wide handles that fill up my monster paws.

So I guess I'd love an Esquire in 3/32" with a real big handle. That's probably an oddball knife that we're unlikely to see any time soon. ;)

Anyway...catch you later.
