Fiddleback User Pics

Mist, I hear ya! I love this thread. Its a wallet killer though. I quit drinking 5 months ago so that cognac is killing me.

Thanks, it is a Sneaky Pete. It's hard to show the personality of this knife in a photograh... the grain in the black locust changes with the light and the thin green accent disappears as it's turned!

I was pretty sure it was a Sneaky Pete, I'm liking that model more and more. Really hard to show the personality of any of Andy's knives with a single photo...I always wonder if I've managed it when I use forty...:o

Mist, I completely agree! I never had interest in a Sneaky Pete, then I saw a beautiful and decided to give it a try... Now I'm in love. It would be fun if Andy made a smaller version of the Sneaky Pete...

What a beautiful Kephart! She's aged veeeerry nicely over the last year.

I also was not really interested in a Sneaky Pete until I found this antique canvas and neon green beaut with a mosaic pin...Needless to say I'm still after a 5/32" convex Bushfinger like I originally wanted, but the Sneaky Pete has really grown on me.

Nice one Mist

Thanks man.

Thanks, it has aged very well indeed.

The Sneaky Pete is one I have thought more and more about since Andy first brought it out. That antique canvas one you have is gorgeous, as are the ones that were in the last couple of batches. I have a lot of theories on how well that knife would function in the bush I need to test when I can.

That is a great looking Sneaky Pete! great texture in the micarta pattern! The color combination kinda looks like mine! They are a very useful and balanced design!

Mist, If you ever want to borrow one to try out, you are welcome to mine. I did get a synthetic one Friday before last if you would prefer.

Thanks Will, but with the theories I want to test, it will just be best if I get my own :) The photos I have in mind may just cause someone who actually owned the knife stress and anxiety ;)

That rocks Vance

Yeah, Vance is worse than I am at popping in with something to make us all hungry!

LOL, I understand, Mist! But... I have a 5/32 very mildly tapered SFT with Green Burlap Scales, probably the thickest SP I've handled... offer stands (with risk)! :) I personally am into the really thin Sneaky Petes, so this one will get far less use from me.

Thanks man, that sounds like a good one for me lol, I wouldn't mind one with a full height grind and mildly tapered tang in 3/16 :) If I can't get my hands on my own in the near future I will definitely keep this in mind!

My first Fiddleback, a Scandi Kephart. I'm very impressed with the attention to detail that Andy puts into these knives

I'm a little concerned though as I had some rolls and minor chips in the edge after some very light use. I have a few scandi knives and I've never had this issue before. I just hope it's not going to be an ongoing issue. I don't have a very good camera so I wasn't able to capture a good shot of the edge damage.

Here's a pic I took just before I tested it out a bit.

what steel is your knife that was damaged? what wood were you using it on? Just curious.
