Dude! 4 fingers . . . who knew?! I guess no worries about a Karda being too small!

Picked some thimble berries at grandma's house. I thought they were a nice contrast to this white scandi karda.

It is a nice worker and came with a sheath I was told was made by mister Roy himself.

Did I mention it is a 4 finger karda?

Beautiful knife, Pat, and welcome! Hope to see a lot more of you and that Duke in the future!

Bush Boot pulling some garden duty. Lager ale g-10 blending in nicely with golden zucchini.
.
Been using this blade for a few years now. One of my favorite edc's. More so with the new sheath i just made. High ride or dangler attachment.

Thanks Mark. That is the knife Will was generous enough to give away. I'm not one for wood handles, but this one here has completely changed my mind. :)

Thanks Will!!!

Here we have Mr and Mrs Schmittie's first batch of garden fridge pickles. Hope it turns out well in a month. :)

Got playing around with some green wood today.... WOW!!! This Bushcrafter cuts like a knife through butter. Whacked out a quick primitive bow for the kids. The Harness Jack was just along for the ride. For the record, the blade isn't that dark--I was shooting in fading light.

Glad to see you finally snagged one! I think you'll enjoy the profile quite a bit!

Hey Will, sorry for the late response. The SP is one of the temp trade trio that Phil and I have going on. It'll be going back home to it's rightful owner soon. Should have some analysis coming out soon. If work lets up and gives me a chance that is.

While prepping for my parents 52 anniversary dinner yesterday, I got to use my older brothers Kephart to split the chicken breasts in half. It's a sweet knife.

My OD Runt is getting pocket time today and my daughter needed her pencil sharpened . . . good use for this sweet little guy!

Is any Fiddleback with O1 steel easy to get scratched up and do any of you mind all the scratches on your Fiddleback?

Work, of late, has been particularly demanding. Coupled with a growing boy (eight weeks now!!!), that means there hasn't been much "Michael time." Today was supposed to be my day off, but we've got some special stuff going on at church all week, so there goes that. Anyway, the Frau was kind enough to allow for a quick escape of a couple hours earlier in the day. After a couple weeks of "September" weather, today got us right back to the roaring hot-and-humid Kansas July. It was close, but I didn't actually wilt.

Anyway, I took the opportunity to go to one of my favorite close spots, which provides hunting, fishing, camping, and general outdoor recreation space. Given the heat had driven most everyone indoors or into the water somewhere else, I took the opportunity to follow a couple of the heavily-trafficed game trails. You know, practice moving quietly through the woods; identify wild edibles and water access; scout a bit for hunting season--you know, pretend to be a bushcrafting ninja for a while. :D

Unfortunately, I only had the camera on my cell, so there were lots of pictures I couldn't get: spiders in webs and other such where the phone tried to focus on the ground instead of the freakishly amazing spiderweb inches away from it. Grrrr!!!

Also unfortunate, in that I didn't really get to use the Bushcrafter for anything of note, but I certainly felt ready to do anything!

Like I said, a WELL-USED game trail. :D

This dude was really cool. The bottoms of its wings were bright yellow and orange. At a glance, it almost looked like a monarch in flight, but was completely camouflaged once stationary on a tree.

Something lives here, but it didn't look like anyone was home.

These guys were everywhere. They seemed to love the sun much more than I do.

And I even caught a fish.

Best escape I've had in weeks, even if it was only two hours.
