Finally seeing the other side of Strider

Its equally silly to say I have one strider and its great as saying that you have a broken one right? I have experienced satisfactory strider warranty service three times. I currently have three strider folders with zero issues. While white knighting them isnt helping you, neither is talking negatively on a forum that they dont respond to.

Selling your strider knives doesnt erase the money that they have already received when you bought them but you can direct future purchases to another company.

Good luck getting your part back.
Stay positive and believe in yourself! Ill take the American flag.

Just saw this. Honestly, I am done with this thread after this post as I am selling my Striders. I just can't see how stating the facts is talking negatively about a company. I have said a number of times that I love my Striders and that I don't feel like there is another brand that will easily take the place. Feel free to start a positive customer service experience thread, but that still doesn't negate my experience.

The purpose of this thread was to provide feedback about my very unsatisfactory customer service experience to inform any future owners/buyers as they do research. Goal achieved. Moving on.

I didnt accuse you of talking negatively, as I was not white knighting.

They certainly are not the epitome of customer service.

Good luck on your sales, and with your future knife purchases.

Striders are not for whiners or those with OCD. They are not CRK's nor are CRK's Striders-two different style knives made with different purposes in mind. To the new buyer there may seem to be problems, but most of the so called problems are resolved once the knife has been broken in, or very slight tweaks. Some are a bit stiff in action or have a bit of lock rock initially, but the action will smooth out and the lock will settle in,with break in. A slightly off center blade does not effect performance and usually can be self adjusted if you find it annoying . If these things bother you fine. It doesn't make you a bad person and there are plenty of other makers out there. I like CRK's(as well as others) , but would never use a CRK for some of the things you might use a Strider. It's a rough knife for rough duty. Customer service can be a little like the knives-rough, but they will get the job done and have good coverage.
The OP however is totally justified to be un-happy about his missing part.

I'm really surprised that a company like Strider has convinced you so thoroughly that buying a product with sub-par QC is in fact NORMAL, and that expecting any different essentially makes you whiny/OCD. I for one expect the very highest of quality when paying well over what I could be for a knife of comparable components (ZT). I would also venture to say that you'll probably not see ANY difference between the two functionality wise. But to each their own. Some people demand "the best" I suppose.

I did not say you were a whiner or OCD if you didn't like Striders. I said if you were a whiner or OCD they would not be for you. There are people on the forum that expect perfection and anything not they complain about. No knife is perfect if you look hard enough. Striders are not perfection nor do they try to be (though I have always felt their quality is pretty good)and would just be a problem for them. Zt's are fine looking knives with a good rep, but I might as well fill my pockets with rocks, they are so heavy(so they are not for me). I have no problem at all with those that prefer another brand, that is personal choice. I like the Strider design and have had very few problems, all of which I could have remedied myself, so I am a happy Strider owner. If I ever run into a problem such as the OP's I too could get pissed off at them, but for now I am fine with them.

And striders are light? Zt has so many knives, a blanket statement that they are all rocks compared to a strider is preposterous.

That may be true, I have not looked at them in a long time, but when I did those models(and they only had a few then) that compared to the Strider were much heavier. If they have something comparable in the weight class they may be worth another look, for as I said they do have a good rep.

And yes Striders are light for their size and specs-do to the G10 scale with integrated backspacer and no liner.

Strider wouldn't be so easy to make fun of without the "they're for badass operators" excuse when a premium priced product doesn't always have premium QC or CS.

Strider has a perfect folder formula and they are light in weight and yet very strong plus their HT is just fantastic.
I will always have my SnG.

Perhaps if, Strider, had treated you with the same exceptional customer service in which you provided me, Sting...they'd still have a loyal customer, continuing to spend $$$$$ on their knives. ;)

This thread, will make me think twice, before I'd consider purchasing a brand new Strider, from a dealer, again. FWIW: I've scored 2 of thee most perfect SNG's, right here off of BF's sales forum. Both of these SNG's have arrived with perfect F&F (perfect centering/solid lockup @ 50%/perfect detents/ultra smooth). It should be noted: I saved approximately $400 buying these SNG's, on the secondary market!

Maybe this, is the way to go!
