I've been inspired by a recent act of kindness by member r8shell, and by my upcoming anniversary of becoming a member myself. I have gained so much by participating in this forum over the last year, not only in knowledge but also in friendships. I am constantly in awe of how easy it is for somebody like me to learn from the decades of experience that others have put into this hobby. I am so grateful to the veteran members that share their hard earned experience so freely. I just can't overstate how much that means to me. I've been involved in other hobbies where people guarded their secrets like old hermits and every tidbit was gained through personal experience. It makes all of this so much more enjoyable to have a group of great people that are so willing to answer questions and offer suggestions. I honestly don't think I'd be into knives like I am if it weren't for this group. I would have found a knife that I liked and moved on with my life. Thank you all so much.

On July the 1st I'll have been a member of this community for one year. I came here because I wanted to find a good pocket knife and I needed to do some research to know how to spot a good one in the sea of junk. I stuck around because I found a great community in the sea of junk that is the Internet. In commemoration of this anniversary I've decided to give away a beautiful stag Northfield Gambler. It's been lightly used, and I've flitzed off the etch. I was contemplating giving away a new in tube knife, but I wanted to make sure that the knife I gave away was enjoyed and didn't end up sitting in a safe somewhere. This knife is new enough to still be beautiful, but sullied enough that you can drop it in your pocket without feeling guilty. It's in the sweet spot. ;)

All I ask for this giveaway is that you be a regular in the Traditionals forum and that you share with us how long you've been collecting knives. I'll pick a winner by random number selection on July 1st and if I don't recognize your name I'll draw another number. Don't worry if you're newer, I read just about every post in every thread and if you've been posting recently I'll recognize you. Good luck to everybody that decides to enter.

Hey Cory its been grand having you around. I've been a member here since 2013, september I believe. I started picking up pocket knives (traditionals) a few months prior to that, but it was here that I found such an amazing community. That 89 is gorgeous, I'm a new fan of the pattern, and would be very proud to carry that stag on date night. LOL. Well I gues you can count me in. Happy anniversary, and looking forward to many more.

Nice Cory...I share your sentiments regarding BF and the front porch here. I've only been here a little over a year myself...but seems longer than that.

Count me in or count me out, as long as I get counted. [emoji6] However, I'll pass on this one to the next BF porch sitter. I already have this knife and love it.

Mike

Great giveaway Cory, your icon always makes me want to hitch up an a-frame and camp for a bit. I only joined the traditional forum heavily in the past year but have been on bladeforums since 2011, more so in general knife discussion beforehand. Been collecting modern knives since I was 16 and only recently have gotten rid of all the moderns for all but one and turned onto only small fixies and traditionals. I love it here. The bookmarked tabs on my browser are all to the traditional forum areas. :D Please count me in~

Not only a decent gesture, but what a knife! I'm very fond of that type of thing and I don't have that pattern so I'm really glad to be able to get a chance at it.

Been having a close relationship with pocket knives from age 7 when I found a battered old thing on the way to school (yes, we used to walk back in that century :D:D:thumbup: )

Many thanks, Will

Cory, Very cool of you to do. I have been collecting Knives for around 35 years. I am 51 now and like all styles of Knives, mainly pocket knives and fixed blades.

Im in Sir and thanks.,

Not an entry brother. I have received more kindness than I can keep up with lately.

I echo your write up. In April of last year, I started looking for just a good user and was taken back by those here. I came to enjoy the company, history, and the wealth of knowledge, just as you did, to much to leave. Cory, your one of the people that kept me here brother. Thanks for the gaw. That 89 is a beauty and falls perfectly in the sweet spot. Well done

Cory, glad you were able to get the buffalo horn Eureka you so lusted after!

It's weird, I've only been a member since February but I had no problem jumping right in feet first. Reading as much as I can, posting pics, buying WAY too many knives, but also selling and trading as well so that others have a chance at knives I was lucky to grab. I've made a lot of friends in this short period of time and my experience here keeps getting better!

I've always loved getting new knives, whether it was from a flea market or from my family members as gifts. I love the raw meaning of a knife. To cut things! Even when it's my fingers lol.

Thanks for the giveaway. I've wanted to try out one of these. Maybe I'll be the lucky one, but I'm happy for whoever gets it. Enjoy your weekend Cory!

This is not an entry as I don't think I'd carry it but I just wanted to say thank you for the gesture & very generous gaw! Happy upcoming anniversary. :)

What a great gaw, thanks. I've been a member since 2005, and started accumulating just about that time. Coincidence?

Great GAW idea. Been a knife user, carrier since was old enough to have pants with pockets. Been a collector since the 1970's. BF member since 2007. Love this forum. I agree with your sentiments about the other members here, I come here each day and learn something. Great place to hang out.
Count me in. Charles

Great GAW Cory. You're spot on in your sentiments about this forum and you're part of what makes it so great!

I definitely would carry that. I have only been collecting for 45 years. We thought a lock back was exotic. I read some here every day.

First knife was a Camillus 99 decades ago. Had a SAK in my pocket before they became fashionably. BF has put me into an accumulation mode, and I read the reviews regularly. Great GAW. I m focused on stag right now so the Northfield is perfect.
Please count me in and thank you very much, Cory.

I've been collecting for years but primarily just junk. I joined the forums around the same time you did and my collecting just took off both in quantity and quality. I didn't really get into traditionals until around 3-4 months ago, but it has been a blast. This sub forum has easily become my most frequented portion of the internet.

congrats on your anniversary and thanks for the generosity.
that said, this is not an entry as I already have a couple knives of a similar enough pattern I cannot guarantee it would get significant pocket time.

Hi Cory thanks for the chance at a great knife . I got my first knife when I was 6 and I have been fascinated with them every since . my tastes in knives have changed over the years . the first knives I had were traditional until I was around 13 back in the early 80s then it was all about the taccool knives . then I went into the forces at 16 and got into military knives . and now my collection is all about different syales of knives I.e blade shapes . matials . country's . but traditionals are always deep in my heart :)

Great to see such kindness so freely flowing and perpetuating on the porch!! Thanks for the big smile you put on my face today, Cory!

I don't want to be entered in the GAW. I just want to say congratulations, Cory, on your upcoming anniversary. You are a blessing to this little online community. And that is a gorgeous bit of stag on that Gambler!

Almost forgot. I've been collecting traditional pocket knives for 45 years. But I just hit double digits about 2011. Started with the GECs in 2012, and now I'm out of control.
