First Anniversary Stag Party - GAW

Not an entry, as I don't frequent the traditionals very much. I do have a decent share, though. I got my first knife for my birthday at ten years old, almost ten years ago. A small SAK Tinker. I got the itch for more knives and now am the proud owner of a number of great knives. Thanks for doing this GAW, man.

That's a beauty Cory. Thanks very much for your generosity and contributions here. I'd be very happy to carry and use that knife if I was fortunate enough. I've been collecting traditional pocket knives and a few fixed blades for about 8 years.

I'm in.
I've been collecting knives since 1967 anyway. That's when I got my first SAK. My Cub Scout knife may have been earlier. In the early years I was looking for the one complete perfect knife, so collecting was almost an accident.
Thanks for the chance. It's a beautiful knife.

I love the way that the most experienced knife makers who have knife making down to an art or science are so kind and humble as well. This site is a wealth of information, and the community is full of wonderful people as well. I'll always like this site, and been a member for a three years now. It has never been a dull moment and I have learned a lot, and met quite a few beautiful people during my time here. That is what makes this site what it is. Great giveaway, please count me in. Thanks for the chance!

I'm in. I've had pocket knives since I was little, but didn't get bitten by the bug until 2007. My first traditional was one of Buck mini Trapper a couple years later, and it was downhill from there.

Thank you for the a GAW.

I'm in and thank you for the generous giveaway!

Like Getahl, I've had knives around most of my 56 years. I still have my Colonial Barlow of my youth. I became interested in modern folders just last year, and have turned from them to traditionals with a vengeance this year. I should have gone this way from the start but I got sucked in by flippers and thumb studs. Well, I'm here now and insofar as I already have been the beneficiary of a GAW, I am continually amazed at the spirit of giving that pervades this forum. It's a great little corner of the Interwebz.

I'm in, and thank you for the generosity. Wonderful knife and opportunity.

I'm coming up on my second year year. I primarily started on here to learn more and rarely posted for the first year and a half. I've found this is a wonderful group of people who've taught me a lot.

I wouldn't say I'm a collector yet. I'd call myself more of an "accumulator" as my purchases are often on a whim. But I've accumulated and sold off knifes off and on for about 35 years now. I think back on what I've let go and just shake my head. But, it's a learning process.

Thanks for the chance Corey. Been accumulating knives for the better part of 4 decades now. In the last couple of years I've tried to become a little more disciplined in my purchases and have focused on a single series. Sometimes though, one will come along that catches my eye and I can't help myself. Old habits die hard.

I've been here half of forever, it seems. Started collecting back in '93- a Camillus Scout and Schrade 8OT. Still have and carry both, particularly when I need the comfort of an old friend. That Gambler will get some decent use.

I used to be a regular- does that count?? :D

Awesome GAW!

Count me in! I've always been infatuated with sharp pointy things! Really got more serious about higher end knives about 4-5 years ago. I'm more of a user than a collector I would say. I don't believe I've ever seen that particular pattern before. Looks right down my alley. I'd be proud to carry and use it. Thanks for the chance and congrats on one year!

Awesome GAW!

For sure. Anybody that's contributed to the atmosphere of this subforum is more than welcome. I'm really just trying to weed out the people that have 50 posts and 45 of them are "I'm in". I want to give back to the people that have given so much to me. In my book one thoughtful post from five years ago is contribution enough. I've even got a backup knife ready so that if I pick a name that I don't consider a regular there'll be a consolation prize. ;)

Thank you all for the great posts so far. I'm really finding it really interesting to hear how long you all have been at this. I've been surprised by a couple that have only been doing this for a short time, as their posts are always so well thought out and I had assumed that they've been doing it for much longer.

It's been great getting to know you Cory. Though I've been a BladeForums member for almost 10 years, I only stayed sitting on the porch about a year ago. Sure you learn about knives here... But you also least about other stuff like Tom Sawyer and what a Cotton Sampler does.

I have to say, that's a mighty fine knife you got there ;). I love to see it's journey around and can't wait to see where it goes next!

Macchina, I'm almost tempted to stuff the ballot box in your favor. :p I was contemplating sending you a message to let you know I was going to use this guy in a giveaway, but figured you'd see it for yourself.

Macchina traded this knife to me a few weeks back. He tried to hook me into the world of stag, where every knife is automatically 50% more expensive. This knife would have done it too, if a certain Eureka jack didn't come along and steal it's spot in my pocket. ;) I think it's going to be some time before my new 92 gets left behind, and this knife is just too great to relegate to drawer duty.

I have only been active in a knife forum for two or three years, but have been collecting or accumulating knives for over thirty years - not in any organized fashion, but accumulating them as I need them and use them.

Participating in the knife forum in increases my knowledge and makes me appreciate my knives more. The more I learn about them, the more likely I will be able to use them carefully and safely.:)

I'm in for the giveaway - very generous of you.

I hope it finds a good home as well. Congrats on your year Cory. Not an entry but nice GAW.

I've been using knives for 30 years or so?

Im not sure I've ever been a collector. I have more knives than some, and have spent significantly more on knives than I ever thought I would, but I have used them all.

I only have one knife I have never used or sharpened. It is a custom knife made by my Uncle, Glenn Hornby. I bought it when I was 12 years old. I saved lawn mowing money to buy it. A stainless hunter with stag handles. My uncle passed away, and I've never used the knife. I may still yet, but I have users, that I don't care about scratching or loosing (come costing much more than that irreplaceable knife).

Thanks for the giveaway.

I'm in, thanks for the opportunity.

I don't really know how to answer how long I've been collecting knives, because I've never really thought of myself as a collector. I just really like knives. I like using them, playing with them, reading about them, and writing about them. I've liked knives as long as I can remember, and I've been going on periodic buying sprees since I was thirteen. I do have a small sword collection that I started in high school, and I consider that a collection because none of my swords are even remotely users (or even usable). But when it comes to knives, I usually end up giving away any knives I don't use.

But all that said, I really started getting back into knives a couple years ago, and got serious about acquiring some nicer ones about a year ago. The search for the right knife drew me to Blade Forums, and then the pleasure of participating drew me to the Traditionals sub-forum. I've really enjoyed making knives a hobby this past year, and when I found myself having the knives that I really wanted but still wanting to be active in knives, I thought that traditional knives would be a good way to keep this hobby going. I've really enjoyed the forum knife process, and hanging out on the porch.

Has it only been a year Cory? You've brought so much to the place that it seems like you've been sitting on The Porch forever my friend :) Congratulations on the milestone

I've been a member since December 2005, but only started posting regularly in Traditional about 3 years ago or so I think, that was more than 13,000 posts ago ;) :D

I've been interested in knives all my life, had my first traditional fixed-blade given to me before I started school, and slipped my first traditional folder into my pocket back in about 1968, when I was seven :)
