First Blade Forums experience w/ Pangloss1

You are correct. I only looked after the fact and that was my fault. Should’ve taken closer inspection the first time.
No, it’s not your fault. You should have been able to take a bladeforums members word for it.... not to mention he had 100% feedback. He was the one who labeled the thread incorrectly calling it basically NIB and only taken out to put the aftermarket clip on..... that one is totally on him

At least I got the knives I wanted haha. Sad in the condition they were in but such is life. Yes, I did contact him, here are the screen shots I took

I needed to email him twice to get a response.

Ah OK, that was also in your original post and I did not click on those photos. Yup, this Jim guy comes across as a pontificating douchebag and that "have a nice life" signature line, oh just wow! I have a feeling that this Jim's gonna get roasted crisp on here as this place is not too kind to these types of "I have your money - you received a bad bill of goods - now go pound on sand" characters. Glad that you have a silver lining in this experience and if he leaves you a Neg based on retribution, please inform a SuperMod immediately.

You would have been within your rights to return the knives if they weren't in stated condition-of course before you took them apart. Be sure to use G&S PP for added protection.
Better luck next time

Wow that response is pretty awful.

Check the sales thread add. The OP has also given him negative feedback

That’s not being to aggressive leaving a negative f

Now I know for next time. But i’m definitely keeping both. One sent to Benchmade and the other, a little TLC and she’ll be good as new! Great learning experience though.

No it isn't. You shouldn't need to scrutinize sales photos like some amateur knife sleuth. Sellers should be honest about the condition of their knives.

This sort of experience is my biggest fear as a seller. I make sure to highlight each and every flaw, hopefully making it sound worse than it is. That way I'm either accurate or the buyer is pleasantly surprised.

There are more good people than bad and I just got unlucky. I appreciate sellers like you who do so, makes us buyers much more aware and that’s probably why those knives may sell so quickly because of how accurately the knife is described.

No not too aggressive at all. I saw your inquiry as measure and straight forward. The negative feedback is warranted, and I admire how your handling the situation. Glad you have also found out their are good people here throughout this experience.

And there are! The reason we’re on these threads is because we are knife nuts. I just can’t wait till I get my 940-1 back from Benchmade!

I like the description: "BNIB Only took it out to attach the titanium clip"

Out of what? The dryer vent?

What’s kind of funny he had it listed at $240 originally and I saw that post earlier. Then I saw the price drop to $210 and was like ooooooo, now I’m more interested. Sometimes things may be too good to be true but oh well. At least Benchmade has a sweet warranty policy.

Yeah if the deal seems like it's too good to be true,,, well you know the rest.

Let me say, many deals I have gotten here on BladeForums are much better than a 940-1 for $210, and they were all accurate or better than accurate in the description. Don’t shy away from a deal that sounds too good to be true, because a great member may be offering an awesome deal!

Edit: unfortunately the guy you dealt with was not one of them!

2nd edit: Welcome to BladeForums!

This guy is obviously a straight up liar. I too have purchased many new knives. No production company or custom maker uses pocket lint and dead skin gunk to lubricate their pivots, which by the photos, is what that Benchmade came loaded with. Good on you for acting rationally.

The seller is a complete creep. I really hope that you meet better bladeforums members next time, as most people here are quite ethical.
Next time you’re not satisfied, send the knife back without trying to enhance it. Just get a total refund.

That 940 is NOT LNIB. You can tell in their sale post, that gunk is all over the axis bar. Sorry this happened to you. Just someone else to look out for now...
