First larger fighter: The Inquisitor!

Cliff, check is in the mail. But you really have to stop with the compliments, I am resisting the big head syndrome with every fiber of my being. ;)

Calvin, I am glad I changed your mind.

Bruce, you know it is kind of MY pommel and I would not feel...Ok I just can't keep a straight face. You using a design of mine for inspiration?:o Are you kidding me? If you ask, I'll cut it up and send it to you right now. ;)

Mike, the mantle? Well now I HAVE to do a good job with the stand. ;) Glad you still like it.

Again folks I like to kid around but your support and compliments mean more than you know. A big thanks!

Patrice, do you mind if I use your pommel on my next cut n shoot? It's awesome.
Thanks for the mention in your thread.
This knife is going to be a big hit. You march to the beat of a different drummer my friend.

Patrice, the latest shaping you have done on that handle totally reminds me of a wheel lock pistol stock's shape. Similar to these http://www.loyalistarms.freeservers.com/Wheellock.htm I couldn't find the picture I was looking for that is closer in appearance but those show my point. Bruce how about a wheel lock cut and shoot next :)
Chris

Meh...it looks...ok I guess.... :D ;)

Really looking forward to seeing it all pretty and finished up, Patrice. GREAT job on making innovative and unique designs. Your skill set is there, but it's the artistic eye behind it that gives your work some extra pop.

LOL, Patrice you crack me up. Seriously I do want to use one as close to your design as I can interpret. Its going on another axe/gun that I'll start on next month. Its still in the drawing stage but I plan to do a pretty complete WIP on my KD forum.
Love your work Patrice, Thanks for the OK brother.

I really like the blade... and like Bruce said, the pommel is very cool.

...but... I am just having a tough time warming up to everything between the blade and pommel. Maybe I have some deep-seated psychological issues bubbling to the surface; but that bump on the handle looks like a dude's butt to me. :(:foot:

I'm going to talk to my therapist now. ;)

Chris, thanks for the info. It does have the same look. I guess I like pistols more than I thought. :o

Looking forward to that WIP Bruce. Giddy with anticipation. :D

Erin, I sure hope you have a good therapist. :p

Again, thanks for the good words guys. I am sorry if I repeat this all the time but it is the best way I know of saying thanks, not because I appreciate it any less.

Even if the knife is far from finished, I started work on the stand since it's going on Mike's mantle.
Still working out the details but it's coming along good. What do you think?

Looking great Patrice. I'm really looking forward to seeing the cross filled in! Excellent work so far my friend.

It has become a blob ! The sleek lines are gone. Sorry but that's the way I see it and you did ask. Frank

Thanks for the good words JG.

Frank, no need to apologize. Honesty is what I want. And I do agree with you that it is blobesque. But this is still in an early stage so I'll give it a little chance and try to fix that.

I will suggest that for that knife with the flowing lines you need to have very little making contact with it. Frank

Thanks, good idea Frank. I was thinking in the same line with cutting parts of it off or making some kind of contrast. Like you say, as it is now, it blends too much with the knife instead of showcasing it.

A photo with a less busy back ground would be nice, I guess I find myself scanning the back ground too much, looking for your top secret alien knife making machine, and not looking at the knife ;0)

Super awesome knife

looking very nice their patrice!! cant wait to see it finished up and see that cross filled in love the idea for the stand as well

This is the latest progress pic. Etched my mark and did some more work on the guard which is almost done, shape wise. As you can see, the spine at the ricasso has to be reworked because of the final shape of the guard. The closer you get to the end the longer it takes for minimal visual changes.
But this is essential as these changes, as small as they are by themselves, make all the difference in the world when taken as a whole.

I've posted about this in the past but it bears repeating, especially for beginning knifemakers. When you start you want to “finish” some knives and spending sometimes as much time as you just did to build it on 'fit and finish” is just not something you want to do. But you should try since this is how you get your knife from “Nice” to “Wow!”.

Dang, I just wanna see that cross filled in! That's the coolest part for me. I really like the hamon too, when you get a bit of tuning time at the end of the blade polish that sucker is gonna look COOL with the cross in it.

Nice look on the finial as well. When you gonna do us up some pattern welded blades and fittings?

Thanks for the good words Salem. I am sorry, I realize that I've been posting a lot of updates for very little progress. I promise I won't post any more until it's about the cross. Still have to find some silver so it might take a while.

When you gonna do us up some pattern welded blades and fittings?

When I feel I am good enough? :o And of course, when I have the funds to purchase said materials. :(

i can supply any needed funds to see the cross get filled in ;) just let me know my mantle looks bare it needs a work of art!!

Mike, just came back from vacation so I could not work on the knife. It gets worst. Without going into details, I am still chasing medical problems (been more than a year and a half now:() and now it looks like carpal tunnel syndrome in both wrists but worst in the right one. It could also be joint pain that combined with other problems could spell Lyme disease. Just had a bunch of scans and tests and some more scheduled next week.

If there was only the cross it would not be that bad but there is still a lot of work to do on the knife itself. I am in the process of buying the appropriate silver so it's not like I am giving up but I sadly can't promise anything time wise Mike. Of course I would understand if you change your mind about buying the knife.
