First Look -Kershaw+ Emerson Collaboration !!! You gotta see these beauties!

I haven't been this excited for a Chinese knife, since... Forever! I'll definitely be picking up a few of these for myself and maybe a bunch to give out at my fishing tournament that I'm hosting this year. Wonder if Kershaw does bulk prices...

Only thing I don't like is the cheesy logo on the pocket clip and no hand guard flipper, other than that these look like a must have for 2014. The skull logo looks cool on the blade, but having it on the pocket clip is doing a bit too much.

a lot of people have been hating on the clip....

I'm not sure if the clip will be kept the skull or say Kershaw but the prototypes at shot said Kershaw if I saw correctly.

I personally like the skull design and wish they would keep it. Really adds to the Emerson feel.

Yeah. Brooklyn. I know we've got some pretty draconian knife laws but I've never had problems ordering manual knives in the past. Even assisted openers. So this is weird. I imagine I can just have it shipped to my dad's house on Long Island, if anything.

I feel your pain... I'm in Queens.

Wonder if there's any difference to the 8cr14mov that Kershaw is using on the Emersons, compared to the 8cr13mov on the other import Kershaws

You will probably never see a difference that one point of Chromium will make in the steel. Just think AUS8 that is a little less tough and you will be fine.

probably not much of a difference but #13 is bad luck, so I think carrying a blade with 8cr14mov gives you more luck than 8cr13mov.

How well do you guys think these will stand up to using the wave feature? That's a lot of stress on a lot of parts, add made in China to the equation.... I don't want to have to send this thing in for warranty every 6 months.

I have a Kershaw Compound with AO. Granted that's not wave opening but the damn thing fires harder then any of my other Kershaws. Been using it as a beater for over a year now with no issues. Lock is at 50% and it's rock solid up and down with only a little play side to side.

I'm sure they'll stand up just fine. Even though they're produced in China, the design/manufacturing of these knives had to be signed off by both Kershaw and Ernie. I know Emerson's QC has generally been looked down upon, but Kershaw has yet to let me down when it comes to fit and finish.

In regards to your warranty comment, as long as you keep in mind that these are $30 to $40 knives using a Chinese-produced steel, they should meet every one of your expectations.

Definitely picking one of these up. I'm liking the 5k. Never had the opportunity to handle an Emerson and just can't bring myself to spend that much on a knife I've never handled. Been a Kershaw fan for years though and I spent more than $50 on dinner last night so these should serve as a nice way for me to try out the design. Just gonna have to settle for bologna for a few days.
