First Look -Kershaw+ Emerson Collaboration !!! You gotta see these beauties!

I'm just curious why everybody beats the piss out of Boker for using 440C on their value knives but I rarely hear anyone complain about KAI using alphabet steel on everything.

I was going to post about the steel but figured I'd just piggyback off your comment. I just KNEW before I saw the specs what the steel was going to be.:thumbdn:

I know. I know. You diehards. It don't matter what kind of steel they use, but it does to "some" of us. At the very least, use the Sandvik that they have used before. That is great steel. I don't understand it. Nice callab and all that but......sorry. I learned my lesson on that. Used once. Won't be used twice by me.

Other than that and I would have purchased a couple designs. I know. More for you guys. Have at it.

Just remember who these knives are really meant for, not the enthusiasts, these are mostly for the guys buying knives at your local big box store and to them, 8cr13mov is the shit

I understand, trust me I do. I own one Kershaw. I basically got it on a lark because of the blade design, the Turbulence. But I knew it had Sandvik and a buddy of mine had that knife and I sharpened it for him and used it for a month and a half so I knew that the steel met my requirements.

Great little (IMO) knife that Kershaw didn't promote and the first thing I did was take out that speedsafe to make it a real manual. My one and only cheap knife. Oh well. Guess I'll look at the ZT/EKI callab but the ZT line has never done anything for me. Different strokes.

I understand where you are coming from for sure. I personally don't really use anything with 8cr13mov, I don't like having to sharpen it nearly every day to keep it razor sharp.

To all the people debating whether the steel is a good choice. To be honest, it's a perfect choice for me. I carry and EDC a hinderer on a daily basis, but when I go out and need a backup knife for protection, I've found that a lot of the emersons are a bit too big / bulky. Even a mini cqc-7. It sucks when my pockets are full and I'm trying to go to a bar / club. These are smaller blades, but they have waves with pretty aggressive grinds. In my opinion, these are perfect for a backup s/d knife or a backup EDC. I'm personally thrilled about the 1k. It's thin, light, and is basically a smaller gentleman jim. I have a problem spending $200 bucks on a knife I carry twice a month and rarely ever use, but with these, I can get a couple and enjoy all of them! If this was my primary edc, maybe I'd look into other things, but this definitely hits a niche with the wave and frame locks that not many companies been able to hit. If I want a user knife, to do everything, at this price point, I'm still looking at a rat-1 or a tenacious. But if I want a slightly 'cooler' knife or I can't live without the wave (I love the wave..) I'll definitely get one of these. I think these will be huge success for 'non' knife people as well as a lot of us on the forums. Lets be real here, with street prices of $40 bucks, why are we expecting premium steel? Plenty of other 'tacticool' knives use worse steel for higher prices.

Look at the kershaw blur. Yeah, they have it in s30v, but it's $75+ compared to the $50 dollar price of the regular version and I'd argue the s30v isn't as popular of a model. Thumbs up to kershaw / emerson for making this happen. I'll definitely be picking up one or two when they come out.:thumbup:

I'm surprised at how many here are complaining about the steel, yes it's not the best when it come to edge retention, but it keeps the price point down and it really is stupid easy to sharpen (like a few swipes on ceramic, back to shaving sharp easy).

Do want...all of them.

I'm all about the 6k, but the more I look at the 1k, the more I like it. Something about that little clip point ;)

And how slim it is. Judging from its proportions I assumed it would have a ~3.5" blade, but it's only 3"! I suspect it will carry extremely well.

Agreed! And the fact that it's a framelock just makes it more appealing. To me, anyway.

5k does it for me...if I'm going to get one of these, I'm not super worried about strength. I'd rather lose the framelock and get that extra g-10 scale. Does anyone know if these are chisel edged? Only the 8 is chisel ground I believe.
