Nice knife for sure but not for me. I am sure a lot of people will be all over it
I like the idea of smaller but not necessarily "cheaper" like a smf to a sng. If it had similar 3d machined ti with Elmax and a bearing system with no assist I'd be all over it at 220 ish to the consumer.
Should be a nice blade though at that price
I would like a smaller version of the 561, but I'm not sure how crazy I am about the bearing system. There's a reason most bearing systems in everyday use are sealed nowadays. If this system turns out to be highly robust then it should be in everything. If not, why put it there? Just keep it for knives that will probably never touch dirt. As for titanium, it virtually never corrodes and also it "galls" when surfaced against steel, which makes the frame lock more failsafe... but also makes it "stick" once in awhile. And, again because of the galling, it won't last as long without deforming. So in a heavy use knife the primary advantage is weight. And if the knife is small you can deal with that in other ways.
So I'm fine with this design. I think they've made some good tradeoffs to produce a more affordable tool. I should say that it would be much more desirable if it had the same 3-D machining.
Update: BTW, you can get the 550 now for $170 on Amazon. It's not the newest generation so doesn't have the deep pocket clip, but many don't like that anyway. I'd snap it up, but I really don't much like the fatty blade. I'd rather wait for this one. Waiting builds character.

Update II: Also, I should say that the more I look at the 561 the less it looks like a "big knife." I have very small hands and theoretically should go for smaller knives that fit it better. But there's nothing wrong with the fit of the 561, and a 3.75 inch blade isn't really that big either. Limit in VA is 4 inches so I can carry it, and it's so light I forget it's in my pocket. If I lived in a 3.5 inch area I'd need the smaller knife, but right now I don't.
