[FIRST LOOK] ZT 0566 (or, so you wanted a smaller 0560?)

I like everything about this knife so far. I know everyone is wishing for it to be Ti and 3d machined and bearings, ect. but that would put the knife out of my price range. This will be my first ZT and my first knife over $50, if it were $200+ it would be yet another nice, boring knife I would never own. There are plenty of those out there already. At this price I can carry it and use it and not feel to bad about it unless I lose it somewhere.

I am fine with the stainless lockside. I actually prefer the flat sides to the 560's 3d setup, easier to make custom scales for and it looks more xm-18-ish.

Thank you ZT for making this knife. I was about to pull the trigger on a chinese knockoff XM-18 when the 566 was anounced, now I can have a decent USA made Hinderer guilt free. I just hope there are enough of these to go around.

I hear ya bro, on every level. They know what they're doing, but I'm sure they listen to feedback also. Let me take out my crystal ball and predict that this will be a hit, so much so that it will open doors in the future for limited variations down the road and who knows, it may include a Ti! Either way I'm looking forward to getting mine.

I must thank Kai for sharing these great offerings with us on the forum via first look threads. Great start to the year for them.

You can simply remove the Torsion bar out of the handle cavity to make it manual. It's designed to work both ways.

I think the 056x is the top dog of the Hinderer designs, the cryo is the affordable budget friendly one and the 0566 is right in the middle as a (semi) affordable US made model. I'm really not seeing too much resemblance to the Cryo. I think it looks much more like the 056x than the Cryo but that's just my opinion.

well, this just makes waaaaaay too much sense to be posted here.

I think a limited edition run would be awesome in Ti :). I hope I didn't sound rude or anything. Text is so hard to determine feelings ect.

You sir is the kind of customer Kai is targeting with this knife. It makes for a much broader base to be sure.

We're always good Steeley, who am I to thank but you for this Halo4 I've been hooked since I got it. Also, trying to get this as close to an XM as possible isn't too bad of a proposition is it? lol, maybe Rick is "like no way, I'm trying to sell my knives here".

Glad you are enjoying it man. I watched BladeHq's video on it. It looks good, I just hope my XL hands still fit on it nicely.

If you don't like the assist on this knife, when you get yours, take it out. Simple as that. Mine will be getting deassisted.

One thing everyone that is wishing for 3D machining, Ti, and bearings should understand, for the size difference, using the same materials, the cost difference between the 0560 and 0566 would be relatively insignificant. There would be no real difference in the time and labor required to make either knife. The price for either size would pretty much be the same, so why bother? By eliminating the 3D machining, Ti, and bearings, the cost of manufacture is reduced significantly, allowing for some real differentiation in price.

Granted I havent seen the knife yet , but I would gladly pay the extra for Titanium.
Iam in either way though. For all three new ones.
It just makes a difference on how many I will get ......... 1 steel or three Titanium's .......LOL

Unfortunately as much as I like the Hinderer / ZT implementation of this piece of practical art I only have one pocket left in my knife bag and I'm going to reserve that for a ZT 56# version with a gold-titanium frame, like Tony Stark's suit.

I am definitely going to get (at least) one of these. I like the Kershaw staffer's explanation at the SHOT Show booth; the 0566 is to the 056x's as the 0350 is to the 0300. I simply accept it for what it is, another very cool ZT model!

I am for sure in for a pre-order. This will be my first Zero Tolerance knife ever.

When, where, and how much? :D

I tried to explain that to you guys earlier! See told you! :p

I believe I need to pick one of these up! It seems like it will be the perfect size. Thanks KAI!

That is a very good point! ZT has made special editions of some of their other models such as the 560 becoming the 561. They could sell the SS version for people that appreciate the lower price point and the limited edition Ti model for people that are willing to pay more. I'm not so interested in a Ti model myself, depending on what the weight ends up being on the SS version, but I really like the design. (And I'm sitting here right now with the 0561 in m pocket)
