[FIRST LOOK] ZT 0566 (or, so you wanted a smaller 0560?)

I will reserve a "pass/fail" until I have it in hand but on these pics alone I'll go ahead and say WE HAVE A WINNER.

The best steel we have been using, looks as good as the rest, we never pay full msrp so that price doesn't mean too much, and it's a ZT.

This one looks awesome. Nearly made it to #1 on my wish list. Wish they would have stuck with titanium for the locking side, as a slab of steel that size has got to be pretty heavy. Looking at the comparison pics with the 0560, this looks to be pretty EDC-friendly. Looks like I'll have to wait a bit longer before trying KVT, as the 0566 just bumped the 0560 from its spot.

Perfect! This is an actual legal size I can carry. I wonder where the street price on this bad boy will be?

To throw another question out there, I wonder what the blade stock is? On the one hand, Hinderer is known for his big, tanky knives. On the other hand, the 300 to 350 conversion saw a blade stock reduction. Also, price point. Hmm...

I haven't been able to consistently open my 561using the flipper, so I'd just as soon use assisted, as long as I can deassist it if the legal situation demands.. The smoothest and most reliable non-assisted knives I have are some Zing blems, not the ZT.

I should add that I can open the ZT using the flipper easily with a little wrist english, and I can open it with the thumb stud without any english. I just can't quite get the flipper to do it, but perhaps it'll loosen up with time. I guess the point is that the bearing system isn't necessarily "all that," and making the 566 so that it can be easily deassisted is fantastic.

So the 567 will have the... oh never mind.

Nice job, SolidOrange!

This one will be a great variation - it reminds me more of a smaller 551 than a 560 due to the ti scale - all good since I love them both!

ZT is doing great things!

Just saw the vid. Man I'm drooling over this now. But I would take a "downgrade" in steel to perhaps s35vN/CPM-154 instead of Elmax for them to perhaps still be able to retain the desired pricepoint AND have a Ti scale instead of stainless. It's so close to being perfect that I can't help myself but to throw out this suggestion to perhaps get it that much closer to perfect. Just an idea, not complaining so for some of you who feel like they are the protectors of the shield take it easy...

The more I play around with this 561 the more I like it (even though I can't open it with just the flipper and no wrist english). I'm amazed at how light it is, and how cool it would be to have a smaller version of the same knife. And therein lies the problem.

I already have a beautiful 3.25 inch knife with G10 scales and an Elmax blade made by Kershaw. How can I justify another one?

BTW: In the picture the finger choil on the 566 looks to be somewhat elongated compared to the 560/561, and there's no scale overhang. Am I right about this, or is it some kind of optical illusion? Anyway, minor difference.

Nice knife for sure but not for me. I am sure a lot of people will be all over it

I like the idea of smaller but not necessarily "cheaper" like a smf to a sng. If it had similar 3d machined ti with Elmax and a bearing system with no assist I'd be all over it at 220 ish to the consumer.

Should be a nice blade though at that price
