[FIRST LOOK] ZT 0566 (or, so you wanted a smaller 0560?)

Looks like just another 0550 not a smaller 0560. The entire lockside looks nothing like the 0560 and really neither does the scale. I'll pass.

this post makes no sense. other than the lack of 3D machining, it is almost an exact copy.

I see it has a detent but wonder how strong it will be. If it has a good strong detent i would pick one up.

Its been said that going Ti on this would bump the price $70 something odd dollars. Anyone else Ok with that?

The ZT551 was less than $200 for an Elmax blade with Ti framelock. I think it's worth it.

Yeah, I worded it carefully in case someone may think I'm just nitpicking... But I think it's worth it as well. Is the stainless framelock set in stone? Or is there time for open "discussion" on this?

I'm really happy with this version. The lack of titanium doesn't bother me at all...it's the full-sized, USA made, ZT branded Cryo many of us wanted in the first place. The fact that it will most likely end up in the ZT350 price range is just all the more incentive to push me to finally buy a ZT.

I hope its "set" and already in production for a Feb. release. I hope thats not wishful thinking.

It's pretty well set. One goal of this model was to keep the price point low to allow more people to get into the brand. There is plenty of Ti in the ZT lineup as it is.

I also find it funny that there are as many people complaining about the 0801 being all Ti as there are complaining that the 0566 doesn't have it. Can't please them all I guess.

Even if you had the most perfect knife ever, handed down from God himself on Mt Sinai, people would still complain about it.

Steel is fine with me as long as there is decent milling involved. As long as the detent is strong for de-assisting, it will be my first zt.

I'm going to say this is going to be the new 0350, especially at the price it will be offered at.

The first post the OP states its a Speedsafe A/O knife. If it had KVT they would be waving that flag I would assume.

I agree. I don't see any 0550 in there.

I actually see a little 0550 in the design. I think the reason people are seeing that is due to the squared off nature of the handle. The 0560 had a lot of 3D machining and there is some curvature which this does not. Honestly thought the 550 and 560 are pretty similar if you look at the outline and either add or remove a flipper.

Well, people have their preferences, is there any harm in inquiring about a preferred set up prior to release? This is a discussion forum right? I understand its a first look thread, if its that serious Ill stop.

I like it a lot, was just trying to see if there can be enough on here to maybe sway it to Ti. If you guys consider that complaining then I dont know what to say, just feel like some are so ready to defend that something as petty as a suggestion is now being transformed into a complaint.

Some complain about this not having KVT, but I love it if it won't have KVT. KVT is one of the reasons I don't want a 0560. Cutting all kinds of food and other moist stuff or being in a dusty or sandy environment, is not preferable for a folder with KVT. And thanks for the standalone detent, will definitely de-assist it.

Do we know when they will be available.?

Is it correct that I didn't saw this question answered yet?

You're good man, suggestions are always welcome. I was mainly speaking to the many posts in this thread that criticize without offering solutions or positive feedback. That, to me, is the difference between suggesting and complaining.

Besides kvt, yes it is. 0300 is a Ti framelock and has machined scales. The 0350 is a liner lock, no Ti, and has flat scales.
It doesn't have to have bearings to be similar like the afformentioned pieces. Look at the price points and you will see this is an entry level into the world of ZT just like the 0350 was a few years back.
You have to remember these pieces are first looks and some are still in the prototype phase. More info will be coming at a later date

This should be a hit... No brainer buy for me actually. Can't wait to get my hands on this one, should be a joy to edc... and the more success this has the better the chances that we do see a limited Ti down the road! It will happen, its asking for it.

I would pay more for it to be a titanium frame lock, but I'll take what I can get :)

+1
