First Look - ZT 0777

$600? :( I can't justify spending that much on a pocket knife. Max I will go is about $400 because after that I just wont use them :o Too bad, because this looks like an amazing knife and I would love to have one.

It does grab at the wallet a bit. In some respects hard to justify spending that much....but I may not be able to resist. IF I can even get one of the limited run.
I got to handle it at Blade and it is "amazing".

Beautiful knife, great components....maybe $600 MSRP really isn't that bad. ;)

I am hoping the street price is a little less, or I hope this knife doesn't come for a while so I can save and not have to throw it on my CC. Hoping for a knife to wait to come out kinda sucks too though :-p... But, this will probably be my favorite knife right up there with my Volt.

MAPP according to Kershawguys preorder thread is $480... Looks like this bad boy will be the first knife to break the $300 barrier for me!!

Yeah it is gorgeous but I'm going to be on a really tight budget as I'm going back to school  and can't splurge as much as I used to :(

...maybe if it's just a LITTLE over $400...

I too had to cancel my order , too much money for me ........... at least theres one more for everybody else:)
I will however get the two Hinderer ZT,s though , so not all lost.

I'm getting anxious already seeing all these preorders pop up!! I really want one of these bad boys, and the wonderment of the preorder process is getting to me lol

I posted the following reply in another thread, but I think I will copy it here as well, because I feel that it's relevant.

600$ MSRP, which translates to 480$ MAP as mentioned in some dealer threads. Definitely worth it and I'm looking forward to getting one upon release.

Regardless, if the same or a similar knife were made by Benchmade, you'd see it marketed as a "Gold Class" with a 4 digit price.

I really appreciate this comment. As a representative of Kershaw/ZT, I don't necessarily want to point at other brands, but I think it's important to keep things in perspective. If you look at other products on the market with similar materials (stainless damascus, carbon fiber, 3D machining), you gain a little more perspective on why this knife costs what it does. These kind of materials are expensive to procure and to process. I sincerely feel that the MSRP of these knives are appropriate for the level of materials and the effort it takes to produce them.

At the same time, I can empathize with every person that has a hard time paying that much for a knife - I've been there myself. I remember when I had a hard time paying even $100 for a knife. However, even before I worked for Kershaw, I felt like this company provided a huge amount of bang for your buck. We've produced a lot of great knives like the ZT0300, the Speedform, the Volt, the Tilt, Zt 0550 and now the ZT 0560, at price points in the realm of $300 MSRP. People have generally felt that these products were a great value for the price, and I think the 0777 will be no different. It may cost more, but you are getting something extra for that added cost.

+1, great points jimmer_5... I saw this knife, and need to own it, simple as that, I can tell how much design went into this thing, not to mention the materials and time required to produce it... I'll sell a kidney to get my grubby mitts on one!!

I think most of us just need a bit of time to get over the sticker shock.:D

Apec's comment is spot on for putting this in perspective.

it's out of my price range as well, but it SCREAMS high-end! Love the simple, low profile pocket clip design too. Going to be in for the ZT0561 though!

After paying $660+ for an XM-18, I feel this one is cheap in comparison, and gives more bang for my buck too;).

I think that knife is worth the price. It's just too expensive for me.

It is the sexiest knife I have ever seen though.

+1. I love pretty much everything about the 777, and believe me I understand why the MSRP is what it is. Honestly, I can't believe it's that relatively inexpensive, compared to the Benchmade Gold Class and William Henry Knives that are its closest competitors. Unfortunately, it's a little out of my price range at the moment, so I'm stuck drooling from afar. I hope it sells well, and I especially hope that materials of this quality get used more and more often, especially in designs this unique. There's nothing wrong with Kershaw/ZT stepping into the high-end production world, at all.

To those who are getting one of these bad boys, I expect a LOT of pics and/or videos. I wanna see this magnificent piece of knife design/engineering in action.

$480 street for this knife, a bargain, simple as that. A Ferrari costs more that a Corvete, for whT you are getting this seems to be an excellent value.
