First Look - ZT 0777

How great would a mid tech version also be. Elmax only blade, no tiny machining on the titanium. , save a hundred or more more off of the street price. Have a ton more happy owners of an awesome design without offending those who can afford the real deal. (Aand maybe they can get to use one too)

your getting a ferrari for the price of a used corvette

480 is the price that customs can start at. I can understand it from a material and manufacturing stand point, but if I'm spending 480 bucks, I'd be buying a custom. Then again, people pay that price for Chris Reeve knives as well. I happen to see multiple points of view. In the end, the price is justifiable. Would I spend that much on a (limited) production knife regardless of how high end? Nope.

Not a lot of customs at that price are as nice as this (limited) production knife. Of course, its your choice.

There were people trying to trade some nice customs for the 0777's at Blade.
I think you'd be pretty hard pressed to find a custom with these materials, technology, quality, and looks for the price of the 0777.
Not to mention, you get a known level of customer service behind it.

First of all, I love the 0777. I am on a waiting list or two, and hope at least one pans out. However, I do have a question about the composite blade.

What are the primary benefits/reasons for going with a damascus spine welded to a the Bohler cutting edge? Is it a combination of a tough spine with a hard cutting edge? Isn't M390/Elmax/S90V good enough (toughness, hardness, edge retention, toothiness)? In other words, is there a functional benefit or is the blade done that way for the pure sexiness?

Thanks!

It is done for nothing other than pure sexyness. I am not sure of any other use for it.

buzz kill

I've never been a fan of the ZT line of knives until now. I will be buying this knife. I convinced myself that its price isn't an issue by lying to myself that it is the last knife I will ever buy........this year.

I was thinking of a modded 0777 with a Ti bolster mated to the CF scale, except that would require a liner on the nonlocking side and it'd open a can of worms in the process of adapting it.

Could this be called the ZT triple 7?
I have my name down for one... Now it's just sit back and wait.

This knife is Light and felt Solid. I'm getting one. It's a beautiful piece. It's also designed to be used hard.

I need at least two of these just for myself. That way I can use one and keep the other as a backup!

If I bought just one, I would have a tough time using it.

That philosophy is 100% accurate. I feel the same way, this will kick the 0303 out of my pocket for a while.

Why n360 ?a steel with less wear resiistance then n690 and similar to 440. That one I don't get ??????
