First Run of BK62's to Be Released

Well the mail just came ... and the knives showed up! ... It's snowing and we are making supper but I snapped a few quick pictures of one ... it is simple but comfortable ... think it will make a great slicer and camp knife ... I'll get better pictures tomorrow ...

Mine arrived today!

My first impression is this knife is everything Ethan promised it would be. Having handled the original, the balance and feel of the 62 is very close ... it even weighs 5.5 oz. and has a tapered tang. I had to leave for work shortly after it arrived this morning so I haven't cut much yet. I whittled a bit of maple and found it to be light, nimble and slicy but hearty enough to do some work. Although the knife is well finished, the stonewashed blade and the natural walnut give it a somewhat aged and rustic character. Thank you Ethan and Ka-Bar for making this a reality.

I will try to get better pictures tomorrow and I'll get yours sent out Monday morning 91bravo 91bravo ... the handle isn't uncomfortable with the shape it feels fairly good ... it may get liners to fill out my hand a bit more ...

but I like the knife ... it will be a very good slicer and will shave wood well ... it reminds me of my dad's old hickory knife he carry hunting or most anytime we were in the woods.

The handle is tiny.

I was afraid of that.

I really think that if you add liners, it will fill the hands a lot better.

That said, I have big hands and it still feels pretty good as is. I think once I put it to some work, I will know whether or not to add liners of a sort.

I was about to type ... I wouldn't say the handle is tiny ... the handle is thin ... but there is just enough I can get a good full grip and it's fairly comfortable ... a liner might make it a bit better for less hand fatigue if you are using it to carve alot or shave alot of wood for tinder ... but it really doesn't feel bad at all.
