I've been following this thread for quite awhile. I'm new here and haven't found a place to do an intro thread so I'm waiting for now. I really like what you've got going here.

What did you use to make your mark? Looks like exactly what I'd be going for.

I'd also leave them as are. I like the look of them. Keep up the good work.

Thanks everyone!!

RWN, i used an electric etcher and stencils from TUStech. There is a picture of the stencils on post 83. And welcome!

Thanks Dex!!

Well i got the scales for the smaller knife epoxied on now. Once it cures ill need to round out the edges and shape them up a bit but its getting close to finished.

After i took that picture, i drilled dimples all over on the inside of the scales to increase surface area for the epoxy. I got this tip from the link Nick Wheeler posted.

And here it is with the scales clamped on after i cleaned up most of the epoxy that leaked out the sides.... I used WAY too much epoxy LMAO, stuff came out everywhere!!! Im glad i added the dimples, makes me confident i didnt squeeze out all the adhesive.

Richard, I have enjoyed this thread; following along as your first knives come together here out in the open so to speak. Your enthusiasm and positive attitude are inspiring. For me, it is the fellas like you that make this such a great forum!

Keep on learning and improving. Never settle!

Off topic I know but I also want to thank you, and all the other veterans here, for your service. Your sacrifices are sincerely appreciated every single day.

My best to you.

Looks awesome!!!

Keep up the good work brother.

Thanks bud!!

Its been a lot of work dont get me wrong, but this has been a very FUN learning process and im excited to keep learning more and seeing how i progress!

Got the handle finished up on the smaller one. I made them out of an oak hobby board. I still want to add some Tung oil to it but that will have to wait until i get some LOL

Ill make a video of it cutting once its complete.

Thanks everyone for following along, thanks for all the help and encouragement as well. I know its not an amazing knife or anything, and i know it has its faults.... but im damn happy with it as my first knife and it was only possible because of the members on the forum. Im very grateful fellas!!

To anyone thinking about trying to make a knife... Stop thinking. Jump on it. I wish i didnt keep putting it off as long as i did. You will find out real fast if its something you will enjoy doing or not. Its a lot of work, and a lot of time involved, but i think its SO much fun and its a great feeling knowing you are making something that could prove useful long after your dead and gone.

That is a nice cutter. You have me more motivation towards making my own knife for sure. Nice work and cool vid.

Thanks bud!!

Here is another project im working on...

Hex Hawks. The bottom hex cutout works on 1/4" screwdriver bits. The way the cut is done the bit will not slide all the way through, or slide up and down in use, the bit goes in 1 way only and sits in enough to use it but not enough to where your trying to hold the bit steady and turn the hawk. The top cutout is more for looks but it does function and work on bolts with a .43" head.

They will be getting stonewashed once complete, they will have sheaths and can easily go on a keychain as well.

Let me know what you guys think!!

These are obviously not done or heat treated yet. Still lots to do with them. But ill have a video showing how they work in time.
