Fixed blades

I don't know .... I can't decide. Nice to have aluminum pommel and guard that don't have to be polished. This one was the first MC stealth run in green Micarta.

Interesting that they used the shape of the 3V BOTM for this most recent Magnacut run.

Well you know Id rather have the OD green......the clip point and fuller are still there.....Would be sweet in brass and OD.......

Cross the street neighbor had me make an oversized Boot sheath for his grandfather's old Case:

He clips it to the hammer loop of his Carhartt coveralls.
Dave, your work is outstanding as always, but the request for an oversized sheath brings to mind some thoughts I had. Most sheath makers have gone in this direction by default and I don't think it's always right for every knife. For example, I made a FS dagger and think it would look better and be more authentic with a thin narrow sheath like the original, but that would be out of the ordinary for most guys making sheaths these days.

While I love fixed blades and have a fair amount, they never seem to get used much because I don't have a lot of need for them (don't hunt, baton wood, chop, etc.) but they're there if I need something stronger or bigger than my folders. I've got a pair of Fallkniven F1s, a Buck 119, an old USAF survival knife (Ontario?), a couple or three Moras, Ruko Muela stag handle hunting knife (bought it because it looks cool and wore it many years ago when involved with SASS), and a custom spring steel knife made by an old friend. I have a small collection of kitchen knives as well (Wusthof original Grand Prix).

Wish Ontario was not on the way out, and still made these:

Flat grind?
...and SP53 is saber?

Idk that..... If have bought a 52 as well.

Dollar for dollar the 53 beats Everything Ive seen. Usually even beating stuff 3 times as expensive

Love the looks of Yours

Yeah, the 53 had a sabre primary grind and the 52 had a full height primary grind.

I have a 53 and after playing with both, I grew to like the deeper bite afforded by the thinner edge of the 52.

Both were, in my humble opinion, very affordable and durable work tools; a great value in big blades.

I mean, you don’t NEED to polish the brass, lol.
I certainly don’t.
I actually prefer the weight the brass adds.

I do prefer the micarta handle of the magnacut to the phenolic. But i don’t hate phenolic either.
