Fixed blades

This wasn’t my best idea. My god, I’ve only seen this much dirt hiking πŸ˜‚

Those beetles make a frigging mess. Outside a wire brush works well for much of it. We have had a ton of spruce beetle kill up here. Huge fire risk so folks try to harvest them for firewood- plus they are much lighter than carrying birch! 🀣

Good luck!

Dave, your knife has taken two trips to the mountain west for upland. This one and a slicey David Mary number also in AEB-L were so good on birds. two other guys commented on how nice your knife did so yeah liking it a lot  keep meaning to snatch another one from you, think it's the Sonoran Toothpick (I'm probably the world's worst at remembering your models though) Do you have a thread with examples of each model?

Good deal glad that is working out for ya. I don't really have anything like that thread you mentioned. Might have to do one someday. You might be thinking of the Sonoran Belt Knife:

I won't be making any of these for many months. My bad but somehow when I made up my last batch of 100 plus blades to send to heat treat, I simply forgot to do any of these. guess one of the problems with doing so many models. I won't be building any new blades for a while simply cause I have a 100 plus already heat treated.

Or ya might be thinking of the Cowboy Toothpick. Both of these designs are excellent as a bird and trout type knife. Cowboy Toothpick:

Pretty simple little knife and slicey. I'd originally designed it as a small knife to take up that extra steel on a sheet when I lay out my templates. Ya know too much steel to throw away not enough to make something else. That place on the sheet. They proved so popular that I now make them on purpose instead of just with left overs.

Nope - ground level πŸ˜‚πŸ‘. I’m going to test a few toys out.

I live in a cement Dystopia - any chance to chop wood is taken πŸ˜‚
We use to travel down to the Garment District in Los Angeles to buy silk for our wildrags (scarves) and wool for our vests. Wildrags:

Wool vests. We were originally Horsewright Clothing and Tack Co. Now just Horsewright cause we don't make these other items anymore.

Anyhoo your pics kinda remind me of going down there.

Here in Brazil, we have the custom of using barbecue knives that are a blend between a larger utility knife and a kitchen knife. They are large, wide, more robust, but with a reduced cutting edge geometry, not suitable for camping. Yet, they are far from being a chef's knife. This one, brut, bronze and axis, is the impeccable combination.

Please let me know if you ever make more of these ! You’ve got skills man.
I will make you one. I am working on a couple projects at home, soon as they are done, I will be making several "multiples" of previous models. This model, called 'Middle Earth' is the big knife I plan on making several of. I already have CADs being done up for the water jet. So, maybe a couple months out.

This just in - Crag the Brewer Crag the Brewer short knife from the THANKSgiving giveaway this past turkey day. Looking forward to using it. Tested the convex zero degree edge, and it cuts too easily...

I know it sounds bad......and I'm Sorry.... but I kinda chuckled.... haha.
Getting (a little) cut, and having a knife "too sharp"

Is like the Biggest Compliment to a knife maker :D

Thanks!
