Damn it. I want one. I'm a bone head who will pry with a knife. It's one of the reasons I barely carry my dek 1. Maybe I'll trade the 1 for a 2.

...and THAT was the purpose of the DEK2. It was put out there as the bomb-proof version of the DEKs.


I think the description actually had a plea from Nathan for prospective buyers to TRY to break it.

I’ve beat the crap out of mine. It’s on par with the RMD in the “knives I’ve done stupid things with” department.

Just got my 11 today, thanks again for the pointer. What a chunk of 3V. Feels more hefty than BFK or RMD. Very cool. More later.

Old queen #77 fixed blade that I restored for my dad. New stag handles, blade polish, and handle hardware buff. The aluminum pommel and guard were heavily oxidized, so there is still evidence of that, but the blade was in great shape. Blade etch not very visible anymore though.

My records are 8oz for a 6“ blade (CPK UF), and now 6oz for a 5“ (Paul‘s Kwaiken).

Still great ! My lightest 8“ is a Busse DSF coming in at 14oz. Of course thickness and height matter, my large kitchen knives are lighter, etc.

Hard to know what's best
I was digging out my old beckers, and other stuff and weighing....that was too big, too.


My next size Up chopper concept is 20" overall , but still pretty lively.

I've got one in 3v that's almost 17" and under .15" thick. Love how quick it is. What thickness are you shooting for?
