Fixed blades

Nice to meet you, Chris :)

Took this for good measure when taking a photo for your other thread. This is an incredible user for me .... as an INFI and Dog fan, the DS8 rules ....

This is a bigger camp/sporting bowie I made recently with a carved handle. The carving is tedious and nerve wracking at times but I love the end result. This is the second time I've done it on a knife and I have a third (even cooler) in the works.

You're talking about the handle, but as I just made a new etching tank today, I'm looking at the hamon. Amazing "whitecaps".

Here's what I have in stag, minus the 4th one down which I sold a while back.

My Dad recently gave me his Stag handled Kershaw boot-knife. Like yours, he kept it in good condition and I don't plan on using it.

A US made Gerber, too. Quite a "slice" of recent American knife history - do you know when it was made? roughly?

Yep, 1991...marked right on the blade. Mine's #407/1500. Also have the Cordia wood handled one from the same year, as well as a regular Hypalon version.

I thought it looked vaguely familiar and once you mentioned the synthetic handled version, the hazy memory of that version is what I carry around. The shaped double guard also caught my minds eye.

I would have been 10 going on 11, in '91, and Gerber I think was owned by Fiskers at that point, but still making reputable tools...

Thanks for sharing.
