Thank you Chris! I'm honored and I really appreciate that. We can probably work something out one of these days.Wow John! That is gorgeous. When your books open up let me know, I'll snag a little something something from you!
You're talking about the handle, but as I just made a new etching tank today, I'm looking at the hamon. Amazing "whitecaps".
Thanks Richard. This was a REALLY good one. As you know, photographing them isn't easy....and I'm not very good at photos. You're talking about the handle, but as I just made a new etching tank today, I'm looking at the hamon. Amazing "whitecaps".
Totally agree. Unfortunately there's often a time crunch or money shortage....or both.Yes, for your best work I think it's worth it to send it to Coop. I remember noticing that he photographed almost all the entries in Best Bowie this year.
Amazing blade!Nice to meet you, Chris
Took this for good measure when taking a photo for your other thread. This is an incredible user for me .... as an INFI and Dog fan, the DS8 rules ....

My Dad recently gave me his Stag handled Kershaw boot-knife. Like yours, he kept it in good condition and I don't plan on using it.Here's what I have in stag, minus the 4th one down which I sold a while back.

Yep, 1991...marked right on the blade. Mine's #407/1500. Also have the Cordia wood handled one from the same year, as well as a regular Hypalon version. My Dad recently gave me his Stag handled Kershaw boot-knife. Like yours, he kept it in good condition and I don't plan on using it.
A US made Gerber, too. Quite a "slice" of recent American knife history - do you know when it was made? roughly?
That is the look I'm after! I built my etch tank and messed with it a little today, but didn't end up happy with it. Back at it tomorrow...
I thought it looked vaguely familiar and once you mentioned the synthetic handled version, the hazy memory of that version is what I carry around. The shaped double guard also caught my minds eye.Yep, 1991...marked right on the blade. Mine's #407/1500. Did you get a good deal?luethge they were actually already dyed when I bought the knife, but Ritt would be my guess though. I found it in a pawn shop!
