Fixed blades

I cannot tell but I think the guard and pins are stainless. I just been thinking of some of my more practical small Bowie knives. I have a small cowboy Bowie from Swampfox knives ( Tim Ridge ), love the shape of the blade but the handle is just a little too short. I also have a longer guardless Bowie from Tim that is cool. Lastly I had Sam Goodpasture make a 6 bowie from an old file.

Surprisingly I did it for weight, and ballance. "Bling" comes later.
With this design, I counterbore my hardware that I hand make myself.
I'm not sure if I'm always going to make my Own hardware, but I mostly do. A few I havent. It takes me sometimes over an hour to an hour & half to make $6 of hardware.... So it's actually Stupid for me to do it, I could just buy them like everyone else..... But I feel It Does add something special. Even though they don't always look very nice. I don't have a lathe at home, and they often turn out to look like "Googly Eyes" but I still do it.

If people start complaining about their looks, I could save tons of time and frustration.... But then it would be less of Me. Less hand made.

ANYHOW, my aluminum fastener registers near that brass holding it down securely, squeezing it like a sandwich. If it was a skin, just at the surface my hardware would go Through it and not have clamp force.
If I used really thick brass, it would of been heavy for kitchen work?

I thought it looked Cool, but I don't have an eye for style....hence the Boring Knifes

*I like the look of brass, and Will use it more.
Copper, bronze, aluminum, brass.... 😍😍😍😍😍😍

You continue to raise the bar. That handle is incredibly well done. Beautiful piece

I like the look also. I don't need that extra bling. Nice work. The tapered tang is very nice. Great way to reduce weight.

My "critique " was meant to be mostly tongue in cheek .

I do like basic functional designs . Mostly because decorative frills generally cost extra , and my blade budget is severely limited .

Actually , it probably does "look cool " . I just don't allow myself to need that level of aesthetic sophistication . 🤷‍♂️

I'd have to have it in hand to appreciate balance and handling .

And my food prep skills are rudimentary . At best ! ;)

Steel is 26C3 that was clay coated during heat treat for what I call a "working" hamon. The bolsters are brass with red and black spacers and the handles are elk.

Sheaths are heavyweight (10/12 oz), chestnut colored, premium USA tanned, saddle leather:

This is my Slotted sheath. It goes under the belt and will work 360 degrees on a belt, no left or right handed, very versatile; or drop it in a pocket or pack.

Love the "honest to goodness" Nessmuk! There are a lot of knives called "Nessmuk", but yours is the real deal. If I still hunted it would be a "must-have", I can't imagine a better blade for dressing without dumping the digestive tract contents all over the meat.
