Fixed blades

As of right now, my little well-used 1095 Cro-Van BK-2 is straight-up SMOKING my new BK-82 in the "shaving" department...

With that, I've had over five years to perfect the edge on the "Old School" BK-2. Sharpening the 60-63RC Magnacut "82", to the point where I prefer my "field knives", has proven to be a bit of a challenge.
I'll be happy to send you some fine 0.25" 1095 if you ship me that sweet chunk of Magnacut to ease your pain :D
You know you always end up going back to your 1095 knives, and we know it too ;)

Now seriously, That BK82 sounds just fantastic imho.. You'll have a blast using it for sure!
Wonder if it comes available on this side of the pond and for what price.

I Love his style..... Do you know if he has any Art background?
He has a very unique look.....almost like Busse, Koyote, Siegle, Beck, Gossman, and I'll include Me, and you give each of us shots of tequila. 😝😝😝😝😝😝
Hard to describe, easy to see.
He has a very organic look, that you can't fake.... I like it A lot.
Very Cool.
Bad Ass.
Hey man, thanks for the kind words. I follow you on instagram by the way. I draw every day. I wake up at 5 AM, make a cup of coffee, pop in a nicotine pouch and sit at the table and draw knives. I have reams of good bad and ugly knife designs. most of the time here lately.. I redraw my current line up, tweak them, modify them, see what I can do to create variant or improvements. In the last two weeks I have designed 2 new hunting/ general purpose knives and a line up of survival knives. I have made templates and marked out some steel on these new models. I am going to cut out a couple previous line up knives, that I want a couple more of. My shop time is limited right now, but someday soon, it will be all I do, when I am not building custom wood stuff for elite builders in the big city. I keep postponing my sub forum here on BF, due to a personal matter here at home. BUT, it is coming, and when I light it up, I will try to have a few knives a week.
God bless

Hey everyone!

I posted this on another forum but wanted to post it here too.

I’d like to share my experience with JD Custom Knives and hopefully bring some more much deserved attention to this gem of a member and his incredible tools.

My story begins with me trading into a JD Ermine with Bog Oak scales and mosaic pins.

I was excited to try it out but disappointed with its performance. I tried remedying it myself and gave it a sharpen. Still, i was a bit disappointed with its performance. While i was sharpening, i noticed the grind seemed like it was a bit off, i thought that must be the culprit. So i went and contacted Jordan to see if he offered a spa service, if he could try sharpening it and what he thought of the grind. He told me he did offer those services and to send it in. He would try and regrind it.

Great!

I sent it out and in a few days it arrived in Texas. That is when Jordan contacted me with an offer. Instead of regrinding this knife, he offered to make me a new one!
He explained that that knife was very early work if his and he had grown a lot since. He wanted to preserve his early work, even though imperfect, because it showed how far he had come and was a part of his history. He also said he wanted me to see how one of his knives should perform. Jordan even offered to let me keep the old knife!

I couldn’t say no to such a generous offer!

The next week he was texting me letting me know that it was heat treated and ground and even let me choose the finish! He even sent me progress videos which was above and beyond in my opinion.

Jordan sent my finished free knife out, only 2 weeks after our initial contact. That is a quick turn around, especially considering i hadn’t paid anything for this new knife. The whole time we were communicating he was kind, friendly and funny!

I received a brand new JD Custom Knives a few days later, in great packaging. It is in AEBL, blasted finish, Kepil Burl scales and lime green liners. Also in the box was the original knife i had traded for, a business card and some stickers.IMG_3766.jpegIMG_3767.jpeg

This new knife is incredible! The handle is comfortable and beautiful and the blade cuts like a laser! The quality really is a testament to hard work paying off.

I want to spread the word about what excellent craftsmanship and customer service you will receive from JD. I have owned many knives from many makers, and some stand by their products and some don’t. It has become important to me to support makers who will and JD is the first on my list when it comes time to buy another knife! Not only will you receive a top tier knife, you are supporting a top tier person!

What a great response by the maker, makes me glad there still are good people and makers out there who go above and beyond for their customers. That is old school and brings a smile to my face.

Went out for a coffee in the woods today.
Brought my WSK and Kelly Kettle.

First split some branches

Then some nice curls in which the WSK design excels

Picked up some birch bark in my way there to get the fire started easily by transferring it into my bed of curls.
