Was out for a walk with Grim in the woods.
Had enough time for a nice cup of tea
Last weeks snow melted away and left a lot of water everywhere
![]()
Found a quiet spot and prepared some firewood with the Becker BK-16
![]()
Some nice feathersticks to get the fire going
![]()
Grim enjoyed a snack
![]()
Flint and steel to get the fire started with some charcloth and birchbark
![]()
Love that glowing of the charcloth
![]()
Let the fire grow
![]()
And put my mug on
![]()
Cut some gingerroot for tea
![]()
Wait a few minutes
![]()
And tea is ready

I plan on hacking up a bunch of wood for BBQ this weekend with that Böker. I’ll trade you update for update.![]()

Holy crap, WTF! Will, that sucks dude! Sorry bro. Here is my full, unabridged report on the Böker Wenger Tracker.
Few whacks with the wooden baton:

If you look closely you can see that it not only broke across the tang, it split lengthwise down the blade and tang as well.
This cannot be properly heat treated 1095. No way in hell. My wooden baton put dents in the damn spine.
Oh well, Busse Combat to the rescue. This one split the logs no problem.

I’d call it smooth as molasses.Would ya'll call this a Puukko?

Where did you get that? Made in China for sure, might even be a fake from the looks of it.Here is my full, unabridged report on the Böker Wenger Tracker.

I appreciate the sentiment! I was pretty bummed at first. Good thing I have some quality cutlery around to get the job done. That Busse went through the same logs like cheese with nothing to show for it but a couple scuffs in the coating. Still razor sharp even.Holy crap, WTF! Will, that sucks dude! Sorry bro.
As soon as I saw the pics, I was like, is that a longitudinal crack??? Yep.![]()

Looks like cast pot metal.

ETA - What is the "1059" engraved on the spine? 1095 typo?
Got it here on the forums. I don’t think it’s a fake at all, just a POS. If it happened to be a fake I’m 100% sure the guy I bought it from didn’t know. He would not sell something like that on purpose.Where did you get that? Made in China for sure, might even be a fake from the looks of it.
Looks like the marking on the spine is "1059", not 1095? JohnHere is my full, unabridged report on the Böker Wenger Tracker.

Definitely give Boker a chance to address this. Highly unusual catastrophic failure for such a thick 1095 blade.I appreciate the sentiment! I was pretty bummed at first. Good thing I have some quality cutlery around to get the job done. That Busse went through the same logs like cheese with nothing to show for it but a couple scuffs in the coating. That “1059” is the serial number. They’re all numbered. It does say 1095 on one side of the blade.
1095 does NOT behave like that at all in my experience. I’m thinking about contacting Böker because I really expected better from them. Don’t know if they can make it good since these are discontinued. Don’t think I’d trust another one anyway.
I've broken my share of blades, I've never seen one break both directions like that. Denting from wood indicates it's soft, but cracking running both directions looks like a to hard problem. Some serious cluckery with that one. Here is my full, unabridged report on the Böker Wenger Tracker.
