That sounds like a seriously nice collection. Loveless patterns alone can keep someone busy for a lifetime, especially when you’ve got different makers interpreting the same classic lines. And having a strong group of forged pieces from JS and MS makers really adds depth, since each smith brings their own heat treat philosophy and grind style to the table. That 4 to 5.5 inch hunter range is honestly the sweet spot. Big enough to handle real work, small enough to carry comfortably. It’s practical, but still leaves room for clean design and subtle details. Sounds like you collect with intention, not just volume.

Thank you! There’s a ton of great makers out there I’ve never heard of or have any experience with and I definitely still consider myself new to the scene, the only knife show I’ve been to so far is a small local show that specializes mostly in slipjoints.

I can say there’s definitely been a lot of buying and selling done and I feel like I’ve just started to possibly narrow things down, mostly just to stop buying a bunch and focus a bit more on what I already have, sticking with the same makers, selling off some that are more basic and keeping an eye out for the more rare offerings.
