Sorry about the quick and crappy pics/lighting, but I’m working right now. FK3 scales on the left, FK2 scales on the right. Doesn’t look like a huge difference, but the FK2 is definitely thicker in the middle, with more contouring, and more grooves, which, to me, translates to more comfortable and better grip. Once you compare side by side in hand, the difference is pretty noticeable.

I do prefer nice FK2 scales over nice BFK scales, and have them on a couple of my BFK. I even filled the lanyard holes on a black set ....

But please don't make me choose between plain Micarta FK2 scales vs. AECM FK3/BFK scales ... AECM would win :)

I don't have calipers, but eyeballing it using a ruler at the middle screws: FK2 = ~2.1 cm, FK3 = ~1.9 cm. So about 10% difference, which doesn't sound like a lot but you can feel it. To me the grooves look wider and feel deeper on the FK3 than FK2. My size L hands prefer the FK2 scales but I like them both.
