Flashlights

Great taste in lights. You listed every one of my favorite Surefires E2L, E1B, L1..... o wait where is the Kroma ;)
Got to play with a Kroma. Liked it, but I think it is a little big for pocket carry, and I'd hold out until they get around to upgrading the LED anyway. Fantastic throw for an LED light and very versatile. And I forgot to mention the Surefire A2 is another favorite of mine.

You have great taste in lights too. That's one fine looker you posted above. ;)

Hey Tyrkon... I have a couple Fenix lights and find them to be extremely bright and reliable. They have a pretty good special going on right now here: https://www.fenix-store.com/product_info.php?products_id=470

I've also been happy with my many surefires, but the Fenix is just a ton brighter for a much cheaper price.

The novatac are very cool... I'd love to have one, but I have this tendency to lose flashlights... and it would make me sick to lose a light that expensive.

I'm loving my SF E1E executive elite. It uses an incandescent bulb, so runtime is rated 1.5 hours, but I haven't changed the battery yet. The light gives off a more true color when compared to my LED light, which has a blue/purple tint. I still prefer LED lights because of cost and runtime, but the E1E is a great light and I have it on me all the time.

If you wanted to convert it into LED there's a complete new head - it's slick but pricey. But you do get LOTS more runtime. I really like the KX2 head I put on my E2e; it's a whole new light now. You could do the same with a KX1 head.

Do a search for Ultra Fire... Its a knock off of surefire, probably Chinese made I bought one to check em' out and was not disappointed, actually very impressed. And only about $25.00 with shipping. I have compared it with many surefire lights to make sure I did get a deal. The one I bought says it produced 80 lumen. Also parts are interchangeable with surefire. So cheap you can just get a new one when the batteries go dead, not that you would...LOL!:D

I prefer a light that uses 2 CR-123A's, the shelf life on lithium batteries is phenomenal so there is less chance of being left in the dark. I have a couple cheapo models that are good enough for general usage, but at Blade I bought two Fenix flashlights. One is small with about six modes, the other is larger with only two brightness settings and a wicked looking strike bezel.

So far they seem extremely durable and they put out a lot more light than my cheapo with a similar published run time. They are 100x better than the old 3 c cell incandescent flashlights that are usually dead when you need them most.

Here are some of mine. I wish I would have never clicked on this thread. Now I have to get a Novatac. :( :D

I upgraded mine 2 years ago to a K1 and have been very happy with it. By all accounts the KX1 is MUCH better. It made a world of difference. Though it does add maybe an inch to the length.

I have a few Surefires including the 3 and 4 battery versions. They are expensive...and I find myself gravitating toward LED's lately. I picked up a Fenix that takes 1 lithium battery and love it. Throws a tremendous amount of light for a tiny, pocketable LED.

Another vote for Fenix. I've still got a Surefire A2 and a couple of E2Es. I sold the U2.

The Fenix is just so bloody bright for the price. I'm on my second Fenix P3D Q5 after leaving the last one in a hotel. A perfect size and really bright.

I've got a T1 - great output and construction but they introduced a new design (TK10) to deal with design complaints of the T1. (All of the complaints were ergonomic in nature and many centered around the clip.)

Check out the P3D. Specifically the "Premium" Q5 bin led P3D.

One word for you to know, remember and buy ...FENIX!

for the output, price, durability you just can't beat'em. In the last year I switched over my Surefires and Pelican and others for only FENIX'S.

jetbeam.com only posible to buy tru ebay very bright in a small package like single aa batterie

Cree makes some nice stainless steel flashlights. They are LED lights. I have one that uses standard AA batteries. If you want a brighter light get the one that uses Lithium batteries (more expensive, but if you buy 20 at a time, you can get them from Surefire for about $2.00 dollars a piece). The one I have cost about $20.00 dollars. Just get on ebay and search for stainless steel flashlight or Cree.

Cree makes flashlights?

[Edit - Are you looking at the manufacturer of the LED emitter or are there really Cree manufactured flashlights? It would be interesting to see what they are capable of doing.]

I have 3 Pentagon Lights. Two 2 cell and a 3 cell that are fantastic tac lights. I like the push button on/off and the twist constant on features. They are robust and can take a beating. Several variants are offered, even LED. They have attachments like IR filters and various colored lenses.

Cree is the LED manufacturer Soul is the other major one.

And Luxeon. :D (Rebel.)

Very true, I trend to name the two I did b/c I have upgraded all my other lights to use a bin from Cree or Soul. Nothing against Rebel or Lux just seems to be the best bins/LEDs (at least IMHO) are coming from Soul or Cree these days

+1 on the Novatac's, or the older HDS's, I have several of each. I always have one nearby.

but in my pocket all the time is an Orb Raw, awesome little 2 stage with rechargeables, very small.

I also have some Surefires and some Nightops Gladius's, for when more light or runtime is needed.

That seems the trend. Fenix stopped selling the Rebel P3Ds and just kept the Q5 bin Cree in the Premium range. Apparently they were having some reliability issues with the Rebel (Luxeon.)

I've got a Fenix L0D (AAA) on my keyring and a P1D (cr123) in my bag.

Creepy....that's exactly what I carry....except the P1D is on my belt and the L0D is in my bag in the pocket of my sheath for the Jack Hammer. :D

Don't you have a Satin Black paper leaner meaner also???

Weird....
